Reddit has been returning to vintage form lately with all of the circle jerking about HK/China. Nonstop virtue signaling.

So you agree with what China is doing? Not sure what your angle is there.

Why am I not surprised you asked this?

Of course not. I'm referring to the blatant karma whoring on that site and everyonr competing with one another to look like they actually care the most about HK. The last story that created this kind of CJ was the net neutrality stuff. On Reddit, it's magnified so much because of the upvote system.

Kinda like how Republicans pretend to care about fiscal responsibility.

I stopped caring about that a while ago...that ship has sailed, gotten halfway around the world, and sank to the bottom of the Mariana Trench.

Dave Chappelle Puts On Massive Block Party In Dayton in Honor of Mass Shooting victims. 20k in attendance. Entertainers seen at the event include Kanye West, Chris Rock, Chance the Rapper, Talib Kweli, Jon Stewart and Michael Che
The event was also designed to raise money for the victims and survivors of the Aug. 4 mass shooting, where a gunman killed nine people before being killed by Dayton Police.

“The best way we can honor our fallen is by getting up better than we were before,” Chappelle told the crowd. “We won’t let those people die in vain.”

Chappelle said he had friends fly in from all over the country here to “tell this city that they love you.”

Music icon Stevie Wonder was the headliner of the event. Among his hits, he performed Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I Wish and Sir Duke.

Also performing was Grammy winner Chance the Rapper, Talib Kweli, Teyana Taylor, and Thundercat. Comedians Chris Rock and Saturday Night Live’s Michael Che were also seen at the event.

“We’re not just doing this for our city, we’re doing this for every victim of every mass shooting in our country,” Chappelle said.

Coming together as a community and raising money for the victims. Sorry, I think I managed to cut the most pertinent information from my original post thanks to my iPhone. :face:

I wonder what the downstream impacts of the ruling will be.

Winter is coming, and the Farmers’ Almanac says it could be a long, cold one for Western Pennsylvania.

But the Farmers’ Almanac says they are predicting a “polar coaster” when it comes to this winter.

Leon Haughton likes honey in his tea. Which is why during his Christmas visit to relatives in Jamaica, he made his regular stop and bought three bottles from a favorite roadside stand before heading home to Maryland.

It was a routine purchase for him until he landed in Baltimore’s airport. Customs officers detained Haughton and police arrested him, accusing him of smuggling in not honey but liquid meth.

Haughton spent nearly three months in jail before all charges were dropped and two rounds of law enforcement lab tests showed no controlled substances in the bottles.

By then, Haughton, who, according to his lawyer, had no criminal record, had lost both of his jobs as a cleaner and a construction worker.

He should sue and win enough money to retire immediately. That is absurd.

Holding someone for three months in a situation like that seems ridiculous. Did they not have a dog/on-site test/etc. to confirm it wasn't freaking meth?

Kind of surprised it didn't magically become meth once they knew it was not.

Well, in the short term it looks like it was good for J&J; their stock price went up after this, as it was perceived as much less bad than people were expecting.

Well, it's just one year's worth of funding and is limited to Oklahoma. While the judge wasn't persuaded by the evidence the state presented that it would take up to 20 years to clean up the mess, it's possible there are more judgments like this in J&J's future, and in other jurisdictions. They may be worth $300BN, but you can only absorb so many $500 million adverse judgments before it starts to become awkward.
