AA flights are so expensive now that people are resorting to hiding in the landing gear. And he probably still didn’t get drink service!

Meanwhile, in Canada:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/20 ... table-mainThe Canadian federation that controls close to three-quarters of the world’s maple syrup production recently announced it will release about 50 million pounds of maple syrup from its emergency stockpile — almost half of the reserve — to keep Quebec’s liquid gold flowing to breakfast tables worldwide.

A Friedens area man is behind bars after he led police on a chase, claiming he was trying to find a good spot to pull over.
Robert Curry, 29, who was wanted for DUI, pulled into Sheetz on Rosina Avenue in Somerset Borough when state police in the area discovered his registration was expired, according to court documents. Troopers noted they followed him after he left Sheetz and then attempted a traffic stop.
Instead of pulling over, Curry began to speed up to what police estimate was over 70 mph. After speeding through several streets, he eventually pulled into a driveway and got out and was handcuffed.
When police asked why he didn’t pull over, Curry said he was “scared and wanted to pull over in a location he felt safe.”
Police noted Curry had a large knife in his right hip along with a utility knife in his right pocket. They also saw multiple baseball bats and wooden clubs, a small ice pick, a backpack and other items in his car.
Additionally, police discovered Curry had a fraudulent inspection sticker, and his registration plate did not match the VIN of the car.
Curry was arraigned on a slew of charges Wednesday morning and was sent to Somerset County Prison with bail set at $25,000 cash.

Five children died and four others were in critical condition on Thursday after falling from a bouncy castle that was lifted 10 meters (33 feet) into the air by a gust of wind at a school on Australia’s island state of Tasmania.
The school was holding a celebration to mark the end of the school year.
The children who died included two boys and two girls in year 6, which would make them 10 or 11 years old, said Tasmania police Commissioner Darren Hine. Police later Thursday confirmed a fifth child died in the hospital.
Five other children were being treated, including four in critical condition. Hine said an investigation is underway.
Images published by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation showed police officers consoling each other as paramedics provided first aid to victims.
Parents arrived at the school gate to collect their children as helicopters ferried the injured to hospitals.
Tasmania state Premier Peter Gutwein called the incident “simply inconceivable… I know this is a strong and caring community that will stand together and support one another.”
Tasmania police commander Debbie Williams told reporters “several children fell from the jumping castle. It appears they may have fallen from a height of approximately 10 meters.”
“This is a very tragic event and our thoughts are with the families and the wider school community and also our first responders,” Williams said.

In a small Indian village, a pack of murderous monkeys have started a war with the local canines.
Around 250 dogs have been dragged to the tops of buildings and trees and dropped by a crew of raging primates that are apparently furious with the pups after they killed one of their babies, local media reported.
Photo in the article. This is crazy. The villagers decided to take action themselves and tried to wrangle up the beasts, but the simians then turned their sights on the local men, some of whom have been injured after falling from buildings while trying to save the dogs, the outlet said.
Nearly all of the pups in the Beed district have been killed, but the monkeys still haven’t stopped and are now targeting small children en route to school, the outlet said.

Former Olympic speed skater Allison Marie Baver has been charged with defrauding the government of millions of dollars in Paycheck Protection Program loans.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office in the District of Utah says the 41-year-old obtained a total of $10 million in loans obtained through the Small Business Administration’s Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). Baver has been charged with eight federal counts of making a false statement to a bank and one count of money laundering.
According to court documents, Baver is charged with making false statements on loan applications for a company she owns, Allison Baver Entertainment, LLC. During the period of April 13, 2020, to April 26, 2020, officials say Baver submitted eight different loan applications to Northeast Bank and Meridian Bank. In each application, Baver allegedly sought $10 million of PPP loan funding.
Court documents say Baver claimed her company’s monthly payroll averaged between $4,000,000 to $4,769,583 for 100 to 430 employees when in reality, Allison Baver Entertainment had no employees and no average monthly payroll. Baver was able to obtain $10 million in funding, which prosecutors say she transferred to a separate bank account and used a portion of to invest in the production of a film.
Best known as an Olympic speed skater, Baver won a bronze medal at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics in the women’s 3000m relay after competing in the 2002 and 2006 Olympics.

I honestly wonder how much fear of getting in trouble led to this cop inexplicably not shooting this guy. Could have been much worse.

Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon, D-Pa., was carjacked at gunpoint in a park in Philadelphia on Wednesday afternoon, her spokeswoman said in a statement.
The incident occurred around 2:45 p.m. at FDR Park in South Philadelphia, where Scanlon had been attending a meeting earlier, said the spokeswoman, Lauren Cox. Scanlon was unharmed, Cox said in a statement.
Scanlon's Acura was found at a shopping center in Newark, Delaware, around 9 p.m., and five people inside it were taken into custody, Delaware State Police said.
They were not immediately identified. The investigation is ongoing, and additional details will be released once they are available, state police said.
One suspect, Josiah Brown, 19, of Wilmington, was arrested in connection with the incident on charges of carjacking and carrying and using a firearm, said the Department of Justice in a statement on Thursday. The defendant made his initial appearance in federal court in Philadelphia on Thursday afternoon and is currently detained.

What a horrific job. Humanity is garbage.A content moderator who reviewed videos for TikTok is suing the social media company, alleging that it did not protect her from suffering psychological trauma after "constant" exposure to violent videos that showed sexual assault, beheadings, suicide and other graphic scenes.
For as long as 12 hours each day, Candie Frazier and other moderators reviewed "extreme and graphic violence," including videos of "genocide in Myanmar, mass shootings, children being raped, and animals being mutilated" in an effort to filter out such content from being viewed by TikTok users, according to the lawsuit. The legal action was filed in federal court in California last week against TikTok and its parent company, ByteDance.
