The lack of specificity in these stories is highly irritating. What was he vaping? If it was something illicit, the injury is no more the fault of “vaping” per se than it would be the fault of a “water pistol” if someone filled one with hydrochloric acid.

I know it's a meme, but....

Kinda hits the nail on the head. People are losing their freaking minds with this vaping thing.
I get it, but how long were the negative affects of smoking cigarettes swept under the rug? We’re a society of extremes, so I guess I’m more comfortable being on the cautious end of this extreme than the other end.
Plus if they don't nip it now, all of these people are going to be suing everyone in the future.

Hell, someone sued a 3rd base coach for telling them to slide during a game.

I personally don't think they should be banned, but it should be added to things like increased insurance premiums and warnings should be out that it's bad for you in order to protect against law suits.

BTW, there was a school shooting in Cali. 1 person dead, up to 5 others injured, 2 critical.

Yeah, but the problem here is that there really has been no proof that vaping is inherently bad for you (or at least, any worse than Nicorette). All of these instances have revolved around kids vaping illicit or black market substances. Banning all flavored vapes was an absurd example of government overreach.
I can’t imagine breathing in chemicals is good for you.
You breath in chemicals in every breath you take...

I understand your larger point, just take issue with the terminology.
Is saying “I cannot imagine willfully breathing in non-medicinal drugs is good for you” better?

Or you could say "I can't imagine vaping is good for you..." That would be fine. Or if you want to go further you could say "I can't imagine breathing vegetable glycerin and propylene glycol is good for you..."

In general this world has far too much chemophobia and saying "Breathing chemicals is bad for you" just furthers that.

It's just a generalization. I don't think it's a big deal. When people are typing quickly on a message board, I don't think they think into that level of detail minus a few weirdos.

This is why I have disdain for the anti-GMO food crowd.

That sucks. Hopefully they are safe.

That is my worst nightmare with my kids in school. You expect to drop them off, or send them and they will return safely.

While in a way I'm numb to these now, it still also makes me sick.

Shooter fits a pattern.

16 year-old Male, his dad died 2 years ago, quiet/loner who was bullied.

Only outlier is he is Asian, not white

My mother in law is psycho about organic/non GMO stuff. Yet she will not blink an eye at buying a brick of Velveeta, for example, and putting a slab of that on her burger. It's like the disconnect isn't realized.

I had Velveeta once by accident. I can't believe anyone can eat that garbage.

Texas family told to take down snowman because too early for Christmas decorations
Claudia Simonis said she is pregnant with a due date of Dec. 25, so she and her husband put up decorations early just in case.
Due date of 12/25 and they put up decorations in mid-November? I'm fine with this. My wife's due date, too, was 12/25 and I still managed to spend an hour putting up decorations in December like a normal person.

Interesting comments and replies on this - where the USAF and US military has reduced rank and penalized people worse for smoking pot than being a Nazi. #ChairForce

Texas parole board recommends delaying Rodney Reed execution
The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles is recommending delaying the execution of inmate Rodney Reed, whose conviction is being questioned by new evidence in his case.

The parole board on Friday unanimously recommended a 120-day reprieve for Reed.

They did not recommend commuting Reed's sentence to life in prison.

The board's decision now goes to Gov. Greg Abbott.
I have not really followed this case that much, but I was not surprised to learn that the victim's fiancee was a person of interest early in the case. (Something like 75% of female murder victims are killed by someone who was known to them.) I was also not surprised to learn that her then-fiancee was a cop and the investigation into him didn't really go very far.
