I'm getting wildly divergent results from different calculators, but the net-net is we would do well to invest in solar. We're in our 'forever home', so recoup timeline isn't a huge concern; our house is on a SW-NE bias which means we get full sun all day every day; with nearly 300 days of sun per year we could be 100% solar and even have excess production we could sell to the utility and be in net plus situation, which would be neat because our average monthly energy bill during the summer months is around $400-$450 (yay, pool pump that has to run 8 hours a day).

Solar panels yes, Tesla shingles no.

Solar panel efficiency degrades by about 1% a year. Tesla I assume would be no different. So they are just a waste of money.

That’s one of the only things holding me back. Our electric bill is really low, and has only hit $170 once, during a month of crazy heat. This isn’t our forever home, either, which is the biggest holdup.

Anyone hear about the two psychopath teens from Brookville who tortured a wounded deer?

I would recommend against watching the video.

Couple of future serial killers.

Edit: After looking at some more amateur investigation work on Facebook, these two apparently have a history of sharing Snapchat videos of animal abuse, stomping on chipmunks and the like.

Russia banned from all international sporting events for 4 years (2020 Olympics, 2022 FIFA World Cup) for doping.

From my understanding, this means that Russian athletes can participate in the Olympics, but they just get a generic Olympic flag/song/name, right?

It is obvious that significant doping problems still exist in Russia, I mean our sporting community. This is impossible to deny. But on the other hand the fact that all these decisions are repeated, often affecting athletes who have already been punished in one way or another, not to mention some other points - of course this makes one think that this is part of anti-Russian hysteria which has become chronic.
Actual statement from Russia on the matter. "Yes, we have a doping problem, but why are you all making such a big deal about it?"

The athletes should not be allowed to compete, period.

Oh, Canada!
For those who weren’t quite sure what the sweater might be suggesting, its product description read:

“We all know how snow works. It’s white, powdery and the best snow comes straight from South America. That’s bad news for jolly old St. Nick, who lives far away in the North Pole. That’s why Santa really likes to savor the moment when he gets his hands on some quality, grade A, Colombian snow.”

Semi-serious question about the pronoun “they.” It’s grammatically correct to say, “the student got to school late because he or she overslept.” Substituting they for he or she voids they subject-pronoun agreement. However, now that “they” is considered a pronoun for an unspecified gender is it now correct to use it instead of “he or she”? Are the people who make that mistake now going to get away with it?

Nice.

I have a good friend that works on archaelogical digs and he has told me that his job is basically digging through ancient people's trash.

On Thursday, Topeka officials and business leaders announced they were pooling their resources and offering up to $15,000 to people willing to live and work in the city or its home county of Shawnee.

"Pooling"

"$15,000"

I don't think they're trying hard enough.

You could add another zero to that figure and it’d still be a hard pass for me.
