According to a new report, attempted suicide is on the rise among a very specific demographic: black teenagers.
From CNN:
From 1991 to 2017, the rate of reported suicide attempts by African-American teens rose, especially the rate among black boys, according to a study published Monday in the medical journal Pediatrics. The rate for black youths grew even as the rate of suicide attempts by teens in other racial and ethnic groups fell.

Homemade porno was posted on pornhub, apparently in a PSU classroom: https://www.collegian.psu.edu/news/camp ... ZmZlfDDu88
Powers said the university has shared screen captures of the video with Penn State Police, who will investigate the matter further.
Police will attempt to determine if any criminal activity — such as nonconsensal sexual acts or the involvement of a minor — is present in the film.

Ah, cool, it's handled. PSU is so very good at investigations into sex acts with minors.

The poaching stuff is really, really upsetting to me. What has happened to the white rhino is just horrific and heartbreaking. What's even more aggravating is 95% of the poaching market is being driven by the stupid fcking "traditional medicine" crap in China, Vietnam, etc.

There's an organization I support called VETPAW - veterans empowered to protect African wildlife. It's basically ex-US military/SOF folks who train and work with local park rangers in the Kalahari and other regions; a large chunk of funding for groups like al Shabaab and Boko Haram comes from poaching, so there's a real threat to the local communities from the practice. And if you look at any of the VETPAW members' individual social media pages, it looks like they live in a frickin' Ghost Recon game.
White rhino horns are worth around $30,000/pound, which makes it some of the most valuable stuff on the planet.

A good friend of mine has been going to Africa for the last several years, and has become a bit of an activist when it comes to rhinos. She helps lead fundraisers and such all the time. Of course, a few of us have to send her fake rhino horn recipes every once in a while to keep her on her toes...

Shocking news, indeed.Foxconn finally admits its empty Wisconsin ‘innovation centers’ aren’t being developed
Electronics manufacturer Foxconn’s promised Wisconsin “innovation centers,” which are to employ hundreds of people in the state if they ever get built, are officially on hold after spending months empty and unused, as the company focuses on meeting revised deadlines on the LCD factory it promised would now open by next year. The news, reported earlier today by Wisconsin Public Radio, is another inexplicable twist in the nearly two-year train wreck that is Foxconn’s US manufacturing plans.
The company originally promised five so-called innovation centers throughout the state would that employ as many as 100 to 200 people each in high-skilled jobs, with the Milwaukee center promising as many as 500. Those jobs were to complement the more than 13,000 jobs Foxconn said its initial Wisconsin electronics manufacturing factory would bring to the US, in exchange for billions in tax breaks and incentives that Governor Scott Walker granted the company back in 2017.

Photographer uses drone with thermal camera to find missing 6-year-old boy
Photographer Steve Fines helped save the life of a 6-year-old boy who went missing last week on a subfreezing night in Sherburne County, Minnesota.
A group of roughly 600 people showed up to search for Ethan and his dog. As temperatures dropped below 30ºF that evening, the situation became increasingly dire. 'I heard about the search at 8:00 pm and arrived on site about 9:00 pm,' Fines tells DPReview. He arrived carrying his DJI m210RTK v2 drone equipped with an XT2 dual thermal camera.
An annotated image shared by Fine showing the location of Ethan and his dog being rescued.
Since Fines uses the drone for business purposes, he already had 10-12 sets of batteries charged and ready to go. 'I went to the command center and introduced myself. They asked me not to fly until the state police helicopter left the area, which happened about 10:30 pm,' Fines told us. He also emphasized how important it is for drone operators to yield the right of way to helicopters and other emergency response efforts. Interfering with these critical operations is against the law and can result in fines upwards of $20,000. Drone operators need to coordinate with local authorities first before getting involved.
Once Fines received clearance for takeoff, he said 'I quickly started flying and it was by using a programmed flight path that I could efficiently cover a lot of ground. After quite a few false positives – otters, deer, bear – at 1:40 am, I spotted the six-year-old and his dog. By 1:50 am, a ground rescue team made it to his location and I watched them pick him up on the thermal monitor.'
