Are these two facts related?

Fact 1: Nittany Ned is a UPS fan

Fact 2: Nittany Ned is a d-bag
Every fanbase has their d-bags, us Pens fans included. Every person is entitled to their opinions and there's nothing that says we have to like every one of them.
Are cargo shorts acceptable to wear on the golf course

what are your thoughts on fans ("patrons") that dress up in actual golf attire (i.e. khakis and an expensive ass polo shirt and a golf hat) to watch a golf tournament
Yes, they're acceptable. If you're a walker, it's easier to keep the scorecard in that extra front pocket so you don't get butt sweat on it by having it in your back pocket. I'm exclusively a rider nowadays (rare to find a Florida course that allows it...and you really don't want to walk one here in the summertime) so my pocket arrangement is glove in the left front, phone in the right front, wallet in the right back, tees/ball marker/divot tool in the cargo pocket.

I think people who wear their softspikes to a tournament are dumb. Does a baseball fan wear cleats to a game? What do they think is going to happen, the pro is going to call you in to pinch hit for him? But it beats the women who wear wedges and heels to a tournament (looking at you, Phoenix). The rest of the ensemble I don't have a problem with because that's no different than us wearing a jersey to a Penguins game or other sporting event for a team you support.

Probably cheaper than a hockey jersey.
like the guy at Bethpage on Sunday who was wearing an Eruzione jersey?

How did you get into the golf world, generally speaking, and specifically what you do in it?
What's your handicap? And have you ever got to play (or have some Arnold Palmers in the clubhouse) with anyone cool?
and the two questions I had in mind are gone.

I'll go with the easiest of questions instead: What is the best part of your job? What is the worst?

And I'm sure this was mentioned in the golf thread, but favorite course that you've played?
Best part -- getting to travel to these events and even better, having the opportunity to play courses that I would have zero shot of playing otherwise.
Worst part -- rain delays and longer days because of those rain delays

Best course I've played is St. Andrews. I've jokingly said that I'll stop playing golf if I get to play St. Andrews, Pebble, and Augusta so I have one in the books now. But favorite course would be this quaint 18-hole public course in Grantville, PA named Manada. That was the course I played the most when I first got started playing the game and every time I go home during golf playing months, I always get a round in there.

favorite non-UPS CFB venue?

favorite non-major Tour stop?

Favorite Pens player from the 90s?

The Gator Bowl for a Florida-Georgia game. Been to four of them and if you don't empty your Advil bottle afterwards, you didn't do it right between the pregame drinking and the constant cheers/band playing after every. single. play.

Colonial. I love everything about Ft. Worth and I'm a big fan of the classic courses like Colonial and Riviera.

Mario would be the stock answer to this question but I'm going to go off the board and say Marty Straka. That guy got no big-time love because of the other stars on the team but he was a giant glue guy and the fact he was small and gritty really appealed to me.

What are your thoughts on Ben Crane?
Personally, great guy. As mentioned above, I was there when they filmed their Golf Boys video years ago and he had me over to his house and was a great host and he and I still chat a bit whenever I'm at an event that he's playing. But on the course, he's a rough watch because of his pace of play. He's also notorious for never looking at a leaderboard. So the year after he won Memphis, I asked him in the pre-tourney press conference why he doesn't look at the boards and how he knew what the situation was and he said that his caddy is his biggest weapon. The way his caddy tells him to attack a shot will tell him where he is on the board when in contention -- if his advice is to go middle of green, he knows he's leading.

who's the biggest DB on the PGA tour right now?

who's the nicest guy on the PGA tour right now?

Biggest DB...really tough to say because just about all of them are cordial with us when we ask for an interview but some of the prickly ones include Pat Perez and Rory Sabbatini

Nicest...Crane's great, Chucky 3 Sticks is great, Brendan Steele is a terrific guy (despite being a Kings fan), Matt Kuchar will always be a favorite for what he did for me for an interview a number of years ago. I think because of the media's focus toward a certain dozen players, the fans are deprived of getting to know how a lot of the other guys are.

What would you do if you caught Trump cheating (at golf)?
Call him on it. I've been a sports official for 15+ years so I can't just look the other way simply because of the office someone holds.
Why is Trump’s Charlotte course so easy?
So he doesn't have to cheat when he plays it? Didn't even know he had one there.

If you weren't in TV, what do you think you'd be doing?
Is John Beilein an idiot?
How can we fix college basketball bag men?
If I weren't in TV, I think I'd be working for a college athletic department somewhere. Though, one of the things I had wanted to do and still have an interest in doing is coaching basketball at the HS level. But I could never be a teacher and that's usually who gets those jobs.

I think Beilein is making a really dumb move. This isn't like Calipari or Pitino going to the pros because they need their ego stroked. I can't believe Beilein thinks he's reached his ceiling at Michigan. That's a good team he has coming back next year. However, I do understand his souring on the way college basketball has gone. But if he thinks players are going to be as coachable in the NBA as they are in college, he'd better think twice.

Bag men? If you mean these dopes who pay off the kids, I think you have to destroy the AAU and start over. The influences start there and there aren't any rules against that kind of stuff at that level. I reffed games when Nationals used to be at Disney and I'd see a lot of how the coaches of these teams acted and I could feel the smarmyness even then.

Never been on a filming of one of those but it does still run. It's under the 'Academy' umbrella now

Hockey players are big time golfers, of course. You see any NHL guys pallin' around at these things...?

Have you ever met, and subsequently fought, Ernie Els' crazy ass...?

I liked his goal celebrations; he was always so exuberant, it was like every time he scored he was celebrating his first goal. Ever. As like a four-year old.

It depends on the time of year. I've seen a few Blackhawks playing in pro-ams when the BMW goes to Chicago. Phoenix would be an awesome place to get some players in the pro-am but it's during the season so there's no Coyotes playing but I've seen Roenick play in a couple of them. The best one to see hockey players would be the event in Tahoe every July. But that falls the week of the British Open so I'll never see that place.

I've met Ernie Els and he's 6'5 while I'm 5'7. My days of taking on big men ended when I was in HS trying to doubleteam the post during basketball games.

Take the NFL's tact of reviewing every scoring play. Can still challenge for offsides and goalie interference but let's make sure that we don't have what happened with San Jose in Game 3. Penalties are a bit trickier because those are judgment calls a lot of times. However, there probably needs to be someone like an eye in the sky who can be a 5th official so when something like the Pavelski penalty happens, you don't have 4 blind officials (blind to how it happened) making a decision based on the result.
