The theory behind the gif salad is that they share fencing techniques because their minds are connected by The Force.

They'll give him a nuanced and believable arc to explain what he's been up to since 1983 that fans can dodint about for 'not being respectful to canon'.

I'm pretty sure that was their intention lol. Certainly a more enticing draw than the terrible Titans trailer I saw earlier today for DC's streaming service.

Well, I finally got around to watching TLJ. Ugh. Yes it was Star Wars so it was fun to watch with the surround sound up, but Rian Johnson butchered the dialogue, character development, etc. The scene at the end with Rose saving Finn was stupid, and (setting aside all of the terrible trolling that has been directed at her actress) she is an utterly awful character.

There were several "Holy sht" moments that were awesome, and like I said I mostly had fun. But I came away from this one jaded with the directions the characters are going. They ruined Finn with this absurdly stupid romance arc. Also way too many moments where you have to completely suspend disbelief... And yes, that's saying a lot in a SW movie where I expect that.

And the porgs. I get that they are solely there to print money for Disney, but I cringed when Chewie's porg got smushed against the window.

The part about that movie that annoys me the most is how was she able to not only catch up to Finn but go horizontally across and knock him away.
First thing I thought when it happened. To counter tif's point in the previous page, did you see how far Finn was from the gun? If he was going as slow as he would have to be for her to catch up there is no way he would have been that close to the gun when she hit him.

Also, was it ever explained how someone that "works on pipes" became an expert pilot of those saltspeeder things?

I hate that there are so many trolls that fixate on race/gender because it creates an easy card to pull when facing legitimate criticism. Her character is objectively poorly written and acted. I don't blame the actress for that, I wouldn't turn down the opportunity either.

Ok, I'm done with my post movie rant ;) FWIW I did not have this visceral reaction to TFA. Yes it was a rehash of ANH but I thought it was well done.

Finally, just to preemptively defend myself from claims of gender discrimination from Tif, I actually like Rey's character and the alleged "Mary Sue" stuff doesn't bother me. This all boils down to terrible writing and character development.

While they're certainly money printers, porgs were created to digitally cover up the puffins that live on Skellig Michael.

So......

Really Bad Takes Crowd: Freddy, Shaf

Decent To Really Good Takes Crowd: E'rybody else

Fair dinkum.

To show I'm not immune to criticism of TLJ, I will concede this:I was sort of appalled when I learned that Johnson's direction on the creature design of the porgs was to use as few simple shapes as possible, so they'd be easy for children to draw. That said, I thought the porgs were fine.
