It had something of a Breaking Bad kind of vibe to me, in the sense that the penultimate week was so good that there's almost no way the finale could live up to that standard.
FWIW, Filoni said that as far as he's concerned both Thrawn and Ezra survived their thing and are alive. It perhaps sets up a situation where Thrawn could be positioned to be the sort of Founding Father of the First Order, I guess. But the ending they gave posits that there were not one, but two fully capable Jedis (yes, I know Ahsoka was all "I am no Jedi"... bollocks) running around during the OT timeline that were not named Skywalker. So I'm not really sure how I feel about that.

The final episode of Rebels Recon, the crew almost as much as expressly said "Yeah, we threw everything and the kitchen sink at the final episode, and made an effort to recall literally everything from the show's history." That's kinda dopey imo.
I enjoyed it and liked how they ended it. Looking forward to the future.
I also called the space whales before it happened. When did kanaan get busy?

I do want to re-watch the episodes, because the more time that goes by, the less satisfying the finale was.
I really, really wanted there to be a scene that paid off the Ghost's involvement at the Battle of Scarif. As it is, it has been rendered to the realm of fan service (Chop's appearance on Yavin is an acceptable level of fan service), and that's a bit disappointing. (Altho I have since learned that neither Scarif nor Jedha were ever going to feature in the final season)

Little Kanan doesn't look the right age. If Rebels ends close to the events of RO/EpIV, there's a four-year jump from then to the Battle of Endor. Jacen looked older than that to me, but that's seriously nitpicky.

At any rate, I'm still chapped by the fact that SW canon is now that there were actually two other Jedis in the galaxy during the events of the OT, plus a child who's likely Force-sensitive, and would be roughly about the same age as Poe Dameron in the new trilogy.

when they showed the kid, the wife said, when did that happen and my kids asked me to YouTube to see if we could find out. I shut that down pretty fast as I'm not ready for that discussion with them, but I'd be lying if I didn't think to myself Force ghost impregnation and now my entire view of the force is changing

Great choice and it makes sense on a lot of levels. I'm not looking forward to having to pay for another streaming service, though.

When the trilogy from the GOT duo was announced I saw a ton of SJW outcry, with a lot of specific requests for Ava DuVernay to be given a shot, which is now hilarious given that her first shot at a big budget movie is a disaster. Disney is hiring (and firing) these people for a reason and the SJW crowd should pipe down for a change.

Binks might be the only speaking role character in all of Star Wars that is worse than Phasma.

Do characters that only sing fall into the category of 'speaking role'?

I want Phasma back for IX. I want it to be a running gag that she sucks and constantly gets her ass kicked yet somehow survives and will still be showing up in Episode XXIX The Revenge of the Sith Again for her 90 seconds of screentime.

kind of like that assassin creature thing in the last 3 or 4 episodes of Rebels. What was the deal with him?

I'm only a few minutes in, but there's a major reveal about the finale early on.

Rukh was a character in the Thrawn Trilogy books with basically the same role.

At about the 3rd time he was thrown off a cliff I said to myself, "That's not going to work."

Rogue One had a noncrawl opening, didn't it?

Yes.

I thought that was the plan for all of the non Skywalker saga movies.

Check the link. It's a fan video of one possible way they could go with a non-crawl.
