I mean, it was removed from the production calendar last year and there's been no forward progress since then. My guess is the scheduling conflict is that WW84 was released and they realized the person they hired to write and direct the movie is a shitty writer and a mediocre director. This might just be a result of the scheduling conflicts with Jenkins. Just because it’s off the calendar doesn’t mean it’s been cancelled.

Eh. I mean, she had two hits prior, in the first WW (director) and Monster (director/writing), so I'd say jury is still out on her, if anything. Superhero movies are unwieldy beasts that can make many a skilled filmmaker produce a dud.

Plus WW84 features a mediocre looking superhero, amirite?I mean, it was removed from the production calendar last year and there's been no forward progress since then. I think I read somewhere that for the first WW the studio was more involved, but with 84 she had sole control. Could be that she needed the guidance.

To be fair, I'd need guidance too if I was forced to somehow shoehorn Chris Pine's character back into the plot.

Why would any director want to sign on for a Star Wars movie anymore? There sure are a lot of "creative differences" going around.
Also, how bout stop announcing films years in advance. From now on, only announce once it's in the can.

Yeah, you know, once it’s filmed. Yes, I know that’s not actually feasible. I was being facetious.

I wish more stuff was announced with shorter timelines to release. It was awesome back in 2015 when Fallout 4 was announced - they showed it at E3, said it would be out 5 months later in November, and dropped a free mobile game at the same time.

This is a good read:
There will actually be scenes in a brothel. Like for the first time in filmed Star Wars, sex is actually alluded to.
I really like how Tony Gilroy is completely removed from Star Wars and its fandom:

I really like how Tony Gilroy is completely removed from Star Wars and its fandom:
Rogue One was also Gilroy’s introduction to the Star Wars universe, in more ways than one. He’s long been a go-to script doctor — a writer studios turn to when a movie is in trouble — and Rogue became his highest-profile rescue operation after Lucasfilm was deeply unsatisfied with the first cut. As far as Gilroy is concerned, his personal distance from Star Wars was an advantage, both on that movie, on which he also reportedly supervised reshoots (director Gareth Edwards kept sole credit), and on the show. “I’ve never been interested in Star Wars, ever,” he said in 2018 on the Moment With Brian Koppelman podcast. “So I had no reverence for it whatsoever.”
Gilroy ever-so-slightly softens that stance now. “I wasn’t Star Wars-averse,” he clarifies. “It wasn’t, you know, high on my menu. It wasn’t something that I paid that much attention to. It’s really easy, [with] Star Wars, for really smart people to lose their way. And strangely, it seems they care too much. Some form of altitude sickness or vertigo happens, and they lose some natural abilities or perceptions in some way. And it was helpful, at least on Rogue, to be super-clinical and say, ‘Hey, why are we choosing to die?’ You really have to care about the people that are going to sacrifice themselves if that’s the raw material, the engine of the story.”

Well, I'm glad Andor is not from Endor.

I have really high hopes for Andor. I just saw another TV spot and even in a 30 second spot you can tell how more visually interesting it is than the other series.

Yes. Space battles.

Can't wait to watch it later tonight. More space, less fantasy please.

Star Wars is fantasy. It has more in common with LOTR than with Star Trek. It is not sci-fi.

Very excited for this. I'm already seeing the kids being turned off from this show similar to Power Rings because it's too talky. Will probably have to fight for tv time to get this in, but the J is rolled ready to go. Can't wait

I've seen this refered to as Michael Clayton in space and that's getting me more excited

Three episodes in so far and Andor is awesome. A bit of a slower burn than I initially expected but it's awesome. Just enough nods to Star Wars to make you realize it's in the Star Wars universe, but it really feels like it will carve out its own identity.
One thing that really sticks out without being too spoilery...I LOVE these first few episodes show this universe at a very "everyday person" perception or level, and how the larger machinations of the early Empire and even the early Rebellion affect them. Other SW entries have done this to a point, but this feels like it will be a central theme of this series.

I agree. It doesn't feel like Star Wars, then it has hints of it.
@tifosi77 there is also a scene with the first bodily function in Star Wars history!

Some minor quibbles and questions aside, the first three Eps were pretty great.
