Yes, I know that's probably Joonas Suatomo in the suit. Work with me here, people.

Copying this from the RIP thread.

he always seemed like a genuinely good dude. I’m happy he was able to see the series’ resurgence and was able to first hand “train” and pass the torch to Joonas Suotamo. Mayhew was able to convey so much emotion and character through that mask. He’ll be missed for sure.

What's interesting is Peter Mayhew got a reputation for being a full-blown A-hole, for whatever reason. It turned out to be completely untrue, and it was actually Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), who is actually the gigantic dckhead in most of his fan interactions. Mayhew was a consummate gentleman that loved interacting with the fans of his character. This is a gigantic, shtty loss.

I never heard that about Mayhew (the dickbag part). I posted on another friend's Facebook post that Mayhew and Hamill seem to be the only OG cast members that fully embraced Star Wars. I think everywhere Mayhew went he wore SW stuff.

Yeah, I think it all stemmed from one bogus Internet story that got mostly debunked. Mayhew, even with all of his physical ailments due to his size, busted his ass to get to conventions all over the place. Do yourself a favor and visit his Reddit comment history. He most recently commented four days ago:
Hello,

I hope you're well.

Cheers,

Peter Mayhew

I've follow Peter for the past 8+ years on Twitter and anything I saw from him was he loved his chance to bring Chewie to fans any chance he got. He, like Hamill, genuinely seemed appreciate his role.

Those are sweet, I've been doing my best not to drop $125 the last couple days. Must get through the weekend.

Rogue One, IV, and V are great movies on their own merits.

Solo is better than people give it credit for, which is mainly because it came out too soon after the abomination of VIII.

VI and VII are good, but are well thought of because of how awful I, II, III are. #MayTheFourthBeWithYou

That's funny, Graham Elliot is a celebrity chef and Top Chef judge.

I like him with the kids on Masterchef Jr. (which also happens to be one of our five year old's favorite shows). TIL that Elliot is in fact not gay, as I had always assumed. Nothing wrong with that if he was, of course.

I heard you are only allowed in Hollywood studios for 4 hours now because of how crowded it's going to be. Not sure if Disneyland is setup the same as world.

We set it up with a character breakfast as the park opens then Star Wars after.

We have family picture with chewie and it was incredible. I threw some shade on kylo and was seriously concerned for a few moments, those guys don't mess around.
