They appear to be working overtime to cancel/terminate their existing streaming deals so that that nearly all of this content will be exclusive to their own service. (Notwithstanding digital video purchases by consumers, of course)Sounds great. If the Disney streaming service is launched with the Star Wars series, all or most of the Disney branded film catalog (I understand Lucasfilm and Marvel may have rights tied up right now), I'm a day one subscriber. After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far rom the authority of the New Republic....

I just want them to have all the MCU movies available. I've been itching to watch them all again, but stopped buying them a few years back.

There are so many standalone-ish stories out there that I would love to see told. I remember as a 10-12 year old being obsessed with the Thrawn trilogy, and there are so many other good ones too.

Yup. I'm not sure when the Marvel/Netflix deals ends but it looks like the Star Wars OT won't be available until 2024 because of a deal with TNT. Hopefully they can get out of that deal, though. They appear to be working overtime to cancel/terminate their existing streaming deals so that that nearly all of this content will be exclusive to their own service. Speaking of OT, are we really not getting a release of the theatrical cuts? It's easy money, Disney.

It's complicated, to say the least, as 20th Century Fox owns all rights to Ep IV in perpetuity. I don't know how long it will take until the Disney acquisition of Fox is complete, but TCF had always maintained a sort of handshake agreement with Lucas that they'd never monkey around with the film, or do anything contrary to his wishes.
But complicating matters further is that when they did the Special Editions in the 90s, they learned that a lot of the 35mm negatives for Ep IV in particular were deteriorating at a much more rapid rate than normal due to poor archival conditions maintained by Fox. (A lot of the negs from their 70s movies were in a similar state of erosion, it wasn't just ANH) So when they struck new negs to archive for ANH, they did so using the new footage created for the Special Editions. So it is entirely possible that in order to create a new negative for printing the OG version of Ep IV, they'd have to do so from something like George Lucas' personal master print.... which he isn't likely to allow. Even if they had access to another reference-level print, the process of creating a new neg from that is hideously time consuming and laborious.

I went out and got Solo tonight and watched it for the first time since seeing it in the theaters...I really, really, enjoyed the movie second time through, and with the benefit of time passed since the debacle of The Last Jedi. Highly recommend to those who may have passed in May.
I loved it. In the Top 5 of best SWU movies.

I have no desire to watch it a second time. I will, of course, eventually, and hopefully like it a little better than the first time.

I liked what they did with Emilia Clark's character at the end, and I'm curious to see what else they will do with her character in future projects whether it be in books or tv shows.
