Got tickets to go to Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland this summer. Woot woot!
I heard you are only allowed in Hollywood studios for 4 hours now because of how crowded it's going to be. Not sure if Disneyland is setup the same as world.
We set it up with a character breakfast as the park opens then Star Wars after.
We have family picture with chewie and it was incredible. I threw some shade on kylo and was seriously concerned for a few moments, those guys don't mess around.
Haha yeah Kylo was legitimately intimidating at WDW. That Star Wars pavilion at WDW is awesome. Nice big building and it was not mobbed at all when we were there. The stormtroopers roving around were a nice touch. My daughter was absolutely tickled when they accused her of being a rebel spy. I messed up the Kylo force pose :face:

When are you going to be out here? Maybe we can arrange a grunt-off. ;)
Late June. In LA from the 19th to the 23rd I believe.

I know Rise of the Resistance in WDW has been delayed and won't open with the rest of GE. Is it the same story for DL?

Unfortunately yes, but I’ll still get to “fly” the millennium falcon.

I'm still dreaming that when we go to Hollywood Studios that they'll need some guest test pilots. That's how we got on Mission:Space two months before it opened.

Does your ticket into the land get you a fast pass to the falcon also? Or “Max pass.” I don’t really know how DL works.

No fast passes yet for Star Wars at either place when they open.

How are they going to enforce this? Even if your magicbands don't allow you on rides, you still will physically be in the park...What if your four hour span is during thunderstorms when rides are closed? That's going to be a nightmare.

What's the point of hanging around if you can't ride anything

*Counterpoint*
There's going to be a two hour line for the Star Wars stuff so you might get to do two? What if my time runs out 10 minutes before I get to the front of the line after over an hour of waiting.

Counter-counterpoint. It's going to be a 5+ hour line and there will only one ride. Your window will almost certainly run out before you're able to get on the Falcon, but obviously Disney will not kick you out. Sidenote pro-tip: if you don't have a fast pass to a popular ride, get in line minutes before close. The wait time may still say 90+ minutes, but Disney does that to keep the crowds away. On top of that, since there aren't anymore fast passes, the standby line keeps moving. You can easily ride Flight of Passage with a 20-30 minute wait at closing time even if the posted time is 90.

Funny you mention it. We were thinking about skipping Animal Kingdom this trip, and it broke my mother's heart because the one thing she wanted to do was Pandora.

Animal Kingdom is probably my favorite park and Pandora is amazing. If you've never been, I highly recommend it.

I, too, enjoy Animal Kingdom. Expedition Everest is a great ride. On our honeymoon we found a little show with birds that was fun, too. Tiki House or something?

I was blown away by Animal Kingdom. I thought it was also pretty boss that they had Funky Buddha beers in the park.

Flights of Wonder? That was the AK bird show that used to run before being replaced with a similar show featuring characters from Up.

The Tiki Room in MK is an animatronic bird show.

 This happens to the Travel Thread quite a bit as well. I would be down for a Disney parks thread but I doubt there'd be much activity.

Yeah, I have fond memories of the Enchanted Tiki Room back in the early 80s. It was closed for our first family trip in 2014, but we hit it up (with Country Bear Jamboree) in 2017. Such memories. I have a picture of my kids near the entrance of Tiki nearly in the same spot my dad took my picture in 1984. Pretty cool.
