Sadly, we are all too old to be on the show.Disney Plus has ordered the game show “Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge.” Ahmed Best, known to “Star Wars” fans for playing Jar Jar Binks, will serve as the host of the series.
In the show, young contestants will face tests of ability in the core Jedi principles of strength, knowledge, and bravery while facing obstacles in an attempt to achieve the rank of Jedi Knight. Best will appear as Jedi master and mentor to the contestants. Mary Holland will voice a humanoid droid companion.
The series will debut on the streaming service in 2020. It is executive produced by Lucasfilm, Dean Houser, and David Chamberlin and Mike Antinoro from Endeavor Content.
“This is definitely a kids game show like no other,” said Lucasfilm’s senior director of Online Content & Programming, Mickey Capoferri. “The various challenges will test a Padawan’s connection to the Force in three locations — a forest planet, on board a Jedi star cruiser, and inside a Jedi Temple — immersing them and the audience in a fun, humorous, and exciting competition.”

That's a cool way to get Ahmed Best back into the fold. I hate Jar Jar, but there's nothing but love for Best. Dude got a dealt a bad hand.

It's really surprising how unprepared Disney was for this. How did they not have a boatload of The Child merch ready to go? This is worse than Kenner's empty box early bird promotion. Kenner had no way of knowing those toys would be in high demand. Disney should have been ready.

The Star Wars episode of The Toys That Made Us covers that debacle pretty well. Kenner knew/assumed the toys would be in high demand, but Lucas wanted to keep things as secretive as possible and was rejected by Mattel and Hasbro, resulting in the partnership with Kenner beginning a couple months before the movie was released versus the year plus lead time toy manufacturers typically needed.

They kept the biggest surprise in SW in recent memory a secret up until D-Day. That's not a debacle, that's an unprecedented triumph.
Star Wars discussion (SPOILERS INCLUDED)
You know, I didn't think about it in terms of wanting to keep the surprise. That makes a lot of sense. In that case, I'm shocked that Disney chose a storytelling element over ca$$$$$$h

lol I think every band is going to end up with one of those memes from that scene. (The first one I saw was for The Struts, so that was nice.)

Rise of the Resistance looks unreal. In my head it was basically Ellen's Energy Adventure with Star Wars, but holy **** this is less of a ride and more of a completely immersive adventure. Videos are full of ride spoilers, obviously.
Review plus full queue/preshow. Includes part of the ride as well:
Full ride stitched together from different sources:
Unfortunately it's had a rough time with technical difficulties and even went down during the media preview. There's obviously a lot of bugs to work out but I can't **** wait to ride this.

THAT LOOKS INCREDIBLE
The world building that Disney does at their parks is already off the charts, but this is another level. You have to take a ride to get to the ride.... the interactive aspect of it..... this is just astonishing.

It's weird to me how little interest there seems to be for this ride. The highest upvoted post about the opening on r/starwars has only 29 upvotes. r/waltdisneyworld's top post on it has 250 votes, meanwhile a post about Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railroad opening date announcement has 450.
The hype was much higher for Smuggler's Run, though that may also be because it coincided with the opening of the land itself. My guess is the hype isn't as high because it's a ride about the Disney sequel trilogy and not the OT. But by all accounts, Rise of the Resistance blows away Smugglers Run.

Once in a while I'll get a frame that freezes while the audio continues, but if you go back a few seconds it seems to clear it up.
