The first half of Jedi is great. It goes downhill once they get to Endor.Return of the Jedi is a really lousy movie. It's terrible, it stinks and it gets worse with age. It should not be lumped in with NH and ESB.

Spent a night watching these:Going to rewatch everything in order with the kids leading up to the new movie. Hoping to start this weekend with Ep 1, but it's not been easy getting in the right frame of mind knowing that Ep 2 is coming after that.

Just spend a night watching these and then peruse a torrenting site for unedited versions of the Original Trilogy and everyone will have a much more enjoyable experience.Going to rewatch everything in order with the kids leading up to the new movie. I don't mind watching Ep I and III. It's been a long time so that may change, but it's always different watching them with your kids at different stages in their life too. I look forward to that no matter how bad the movies are. If my youngest will get genuine enjoyment out of any of these, that's good enough to put a smile on my face and watch them with them whenever they want.

I kind of hate those videos. They're fan-fiction ****. It's basically this:
Watch Red Letter Media's reviews instead.

I is a kids movie and III is decent enough, II has always been the biggest issue. It's just a horrific movie.I don't mind watching Ep I and III. I will always rank Ep I lower than all others, even if, structurally, Ep II is a greater filmic mess. Lucas had 15 years to put Ep I together, and he used that time to come up with midi-chlorians.... into the Lake of Fire with you.
That said, I'm down with a marathon viewing order of Solo-RO-IV-V-I-II-III-VI-VII-VIII-IX (when available)
Although, where IX fits in that may be fungible depending on the story they tell in the final saga film.

(And typing 'final saga film' made me a bit sad just now.)

Just say 'final saga film.... for now.' Because you and I both know that the Skywalker story will come back around somehow. Maybe in 5 or 10 years, Star Wars films aren't making as much, they're getting panned by critics, Disney will announce Episode X.

It's one of those things, man. After the disastrous prequel trilogy, I never thought we'd have more SW movies, let alone good SW movies. So for them to come out and release four really good movies on the trot, and have The Mandalorian (which appears to be of uncommon quality) in the wings, and other projects in development, it's a good time to be a SW fan. But with the recent passings of several of the key actors from the OG films, and Harrison Ford constantly crashing airplanes, it's just a but bummery at the same time.

We'll probably go through another dark period at some point similar to 1983-1997 or 2005 - 2015. It's just how Star Wars works.

Watched episode I and I'm thinking through the first 20 minutes that this movie is actually pretty good and then they literally run into jar jar and the entire movie changes. You could actually remove jar jar from the entire movie and I believe it would be pretty seamless with making a better movie without the story changing. You could probably get rid of the Anakin storyline too and the movie would be fine. The pod race is still pretty awesome, Lucas love for hot rods/airplanes really came through well there. Besides obiwan and qui gon, you have no reason to like the good guys, I wondered if he made this movie knowing how badass Vader is later so you are actually rooting for the fear to creep around him? Kids all pretended R2 beeps were saying things like, "I hope you die jar jar" so that definitely made it more fun. Wife says we have to do ep2 like a band aid and get it over with. It's will be her first time seeing since the theater. Basically this movie is ****

Removal of "Yippee" and "Oops" from Anakin's dialogue
Haha
Honestly, what was GL thinking with his decisions on this movie.

Re the first 20 minutes thing
Let's think this through for a moment, from the perspective of the opening stanza of each 'first' film from the trilogies.
Ep IV: One of the greatest opening scenes of any film of all-time; within five seconds of the end of the crawl, you're immersed in a goddamn space laser battle with gargantuan ships and seeing visual effects the likes of which the world had never seen prior. There's little-to-no dialogue, and what there is comes primarily from robots. The first recognizable human we hear speaking comes in a scene where the Big Bad straight up commits murder, while the McGuffins are beamed away in an escape pod.
Ep VII: We meet one of our new heroes talking with Father Merrick, we see blood in SW for the first time since Carter was president, we see a frickin' black X-wing, the new Big Bad straight up commits murder, and then executes perhaps the coolest use of Force powers ever captured on screen, and then for poops and smiles he orders up some war crimes.
Ep I: Exposition dumps, politics, and racial stereotypes.
I'm a 'no' on that the-first-20-minutes-of-EpI-are-okay thing.

Tif, quit ruining my star wars experience by talking about the other good star wars movies. When Maul got cut in half, there was a spray of blood.

Also, I mentioned earlier about enjoying these because my kids do, yeah, they really didn't.
