Good for Rian Johnson. TLJ is a great movie, and haters are dumb.

We are nine months out from release of Ep IX - which still does not have a publicly-know title at this stage - and there is a social media movement afoot to bomb Rotten Tomatoes with negative reviews and sabotage its score. Its 'want to see' score dropped 5% in one day thanks to an influx of 5,000 new 'reviews'. (Which really has to bring into question how Rotten Tomatoes polices itself imo)

Further evidence that Star Wars 'fans' are the worst thing about Star Wars.

A similar RT sabotage campaign was targeting Captain Marvel. People are morons and also the worst.

As an aside, speaking of Captain Marvel........

We are flying up to San Jose to meet some friends for the Sharks-Kings game on Sunday. (Previously arranged this before we moved, and we decided to go forward with it.) We're coming back on Monday, and the USAF Thunderbirds will be doing flybys over the city in support of the Captain Marvel premier (her cover is she's an F-16 pilot by day, apparently). So there's a chance we'll see the Thunderbirds from our aircraft coming back into LAX, which would be kinda neat.

Guarantees for Episode IX:
Kylo Ren dies
Hux dies
Leia dies (in movie form)
Rey and Poe end up together
Finn and Rose end up together
I think that about covers it.

I really hope that Topher Grace's prequel trilogy (and The Hobbit) edits manage to somehow see the light of day, because this Star Wars trailer he did is pretty sweet.

This is going to be insane. The Falcon ride seems like a vastly updated Star Tours except instead of being in a large "ship" with a bunch of random people, it'll be just your party in your own Falcon cockpit. That's **** awesome. I think I'm actually more excited for Rise of the Resistance, though. The Falcon ride will be great because it's the Falcon but at the end of the day it's another simulator (though to be fair, so is Flight of Passage and that was an incredible experience). I may be more excited for the Rise of the Resistance ride because it will be physical environments - full size starships, full size AT-ATs, etc. Can't wait to see the animatronics.

This project is apparently the largest expansion of Disneyland in the park's history. And even knowing that, I'm still not sure how they are planning to squeeze everything in.

My friend said it has driven the cost of her annual pass to around $1,200, plus $200 for parking. In recent years, locals have taken to using the nearby commuter park-and-ride lot and calling an Uber to get back to the park instead of paying the $25/day or whatever it is to park at the, er, park.

Wow, I wonder how crazy the lines and traffic are going to be for this? I will be hitting up the outfitters for costumes first thing

I can tell you that the WDW crowds will be absolutely nuts for at least the first 5 years. Pandora is now over a year old and lines are still routinely over 2 hours for Flight of Passage. And that's for Avatar. Galaxy's Edge will bring in a whole new crowd apart from the standard Disney crowd. There will likely be a multiple hour wait just to get into the land for the first few months not to mention the wait for the rides themselves. On top of that, WDW will also be celebrating the 50th anniversary so you'll have special events and attractions that will bring in a big crowd on top of Galaxy's Edge. Don't plan on waiting standby for either ride for the first year or two and you won't get a fast pass unless you book over 60 days out. It will be unprecedented crowds.

The big takeaway from our group powwow yesterday was that the best thing about Galaxy's Edge in the near term will be the lines at POTC and Indiana Jones will be shorter.

Yeah but Disneyland will be interesting since it's all that same park. There could be a wait to get into Galaxy's Edge which would cause overflow to the other lands. At least in WDW, you can just avoid Hollywood Studios. At DL, the park may reach capacity just due to Galaxy's Edge.

Yup. It's going to be insanity. We will definitely be trying the same trick we did with Pandora (making it the last day of our trip).

That first shot of the area around the Falcon...damn.

They are apparently also going to sell booze at Star Wars Land, so that's fun.
