Star Wars discussion (SPOILERS INCLUDED)

Postby pens9192 » Fri May 11, 2018 4:53 pm

Since they reintroduced the character through Rebels, I'd like to see a Thrawn movie (if not a trilogy), even if it doesn't follow the Timothy Zahn storyline.
Me too. I haven't read those books in 15 years, should pick them up again.

President, Kathleen Kennedy, with whom we had the opportunity to talk to each other. And if the rumor of another spin-off dedicated to Obi-Wan is in the air , the producer has let go that his teams are currently putting forward a whole other character: " We think that the next spin -off will be dedicated to Lando Calrissian, " she told us. " Of course, there are still many stories to tell about Han and Chewbacca but Lando will be next. "

As more and more about Solo has become known, it seems the early impression that Lando would be a scene stealer is bearing out.

Also worth noting that all of the spoiler-free reviews I've read pretty much characterize the movie the same way: A fun popcorn movie. No one's going to call it their favorite SW movie, which is fine because that's not what they were going for. It's just a sweet ride.

Sounds like Glover nailed Lando. I'm fine with this.

I already have Glover fatigue. I'm sure he does nail it. But that doesn't mean I want to watch a whole movie about Lando.

You have a whole fan base begging you to make a Kenobi movie with Ewan. It's easy money. Better yet, expand the **** universe. Give me new main characters to care about. A Lando movie capitalizing on Glover's current popularity feels lazy af.

Give me a 70s blaxploitation Lando movie
I wish we had that instead of Solo.

I'd be all in for a Lando movie if it were spread out. I don't want Solo and Lando back to back.

It's amazing to me that adjusted for inflation Gone With The Wind still doubles up second place The Force Awakens on domestic boxoffice gross.

Further, the cost of a movie ticket (adjusted for inflation) is more than double what it cost in 1939 when GWTW was released. So even though movies are raking in money at what amounts to a 2:1 clip, they still cannot catch GWTW.

Many moons ago I asked my grandma (who was 19 when GWTW came out) and she said that they were showing it at the main theater in Boulder, Colorado from 7am-10pm every day for like a month.

I was about to post something snarky about it being 1939 and Gone With the Wind had no competition. Then I looked up 1939 films. Wizard of Oz, Of Mice and Men, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Stagecoach. Damn what a year.

Update: A Lucasfilm rep Polygon that Kennedy’s quote was mistranslated. Kennedy said a Lando spinoff is “something she’d like to do one day in the future,” but isn’t the next movie per se.

I've read the same. It's not your typical "Start Wars" film. Most said that if you pulled out the TIE fighters and Falcon and things that make it "Star Wars" you'd still enjoy the movie.

So #SoloAStarWarsStory is fun fan service cinema that made me smile a bunch & flap my fanboy fins! Han meeting Chewie is a secret origin scene a lifelong @starwars enthusiast like me never dreamed I’d ever get to see and it was beautiful! Congrats to the Kasdens & @RealRonHoward!
