That's far too much detail than the occasion merits imo

Finally caught up on reading this over the last week after watching both of the Mandalorian series. Started at page 215 or so. Not really a huge star wars fan. So it's easy for me to say it is my favorite Star Wars content. All I kept thinking was this has to be what everyone else wanted after the original trilogy. Cool to see you all pretty much loved it as well. My unpopular opinion is that I wasn't stoked it was Luke. That didn't really resonate with me. Kind of got a lowercase oh out of me. Those super troopers were lame and slow. Would have preferred a much more frantic destruction of them.

Anyway. The eggs definitely have more of a purpose than foreshadowing his dark side or that he's a hungry jerk.

I think Pedro's acting came through even with a helmet on so spectacularly that I think it would have been a disaster had he left the project.

Great show though that has me considering checking out rebels or clone wars.

I would recommend going Rebels if you aren't a huge star wars fan. Clone Wars is very hit or miss and the misses are bad. Rebels gets better and better the longer you go. The payoff is there so stick with it even when it's slow (and kid centric) at the start.

There are just no stories to tell that have stakes for the character. They're verging into the more clumsy aspects of the prequels ("Wait....... Anakin is from Tatooine, and that's where they're hiding Luke but not changing his surname??"); giving Obi-wan and Vader a history between the duels on Mustafar and DS1 undercuts the weight of the final confrontation. "I sense something, a presence I've not felt since......." has emotional weight knowing the last time they saw each other Obi-wan high-grounded him (one of the few good things in the prequels imo). If it becomes 'that time we fought and neither of us experienced an outcome that can materially impact a story we already know' it will sorta suck. That's why Rogue One works - none of those characters exist outside of the four walls of that one story. (And is similarly why I'm skeptical of a Cassian Andor show - we already know the ending)

I don't even disagree with any of that but give me more Ewan McGregor damnit. He's easily the best part of the prequels and his performance deserved a better story.

I mean, yes. You're totally right. I think we're both in the same sort of starting place with this. I'll watch Ewan as Obi-wan folding laundry if that's what they put out.

Don't know anything about her. Sabine is one of my favorite SW characters, so just as long as she doesn't eff it up...

I didn’t know Robert Rodriguez was involved. That’s cool.

First episode was pretty good.
the flashback to the prequels was surprising and I loved the sequence in the sarlacc pit. Good stuff but I don’t know why I’m supposed to care yet. Hopefully that comes soon.

RobRod directed the Se2 episode "The Tragedy", which aside from the emotional weight of the final few minutes of the show I feel is the weakest episode of the series to date. It felt like a Rodriguez thing and less like a Mandalorian thing. I was constantly aware it was Robert Rodriguez.

I’ll have to go back and watch that. The first episode of Fett didn’t feel like Rodriguez at all. Or maybe I’m just not familiar with modern RobRod.

I did not particularly care for Se1/Ep1 of The Book of Boba Fett. The flashback/dream sequences were interesting, and I briefly had hope during the 'tribute' part ("I'm the crime lord..." was very funny imo), but overall it landed with something of a thud for me.

Also, the VFX were terrible. Like, Bollywood bad.

Have to agree with tif. Underwhelmed. Unfortunately. Hopefully, things pick up as the season progresses.
