Neat. Stay away from Tatooine and cyberpunk motorcycle gangs and we should be good. Andor had a really good arc in Rogue One. Don't ruin that either.

John Williams conducted the Obi-wan theme at Star Wars Celebration...and went right into Raiders March for Harrison Ford to announce the Indy movie. Chills man. @tifosi77 might be there in the flesh.

I am not, but we will be at the park tomorrow. (I was caught up in Friday being the premiere of OWK on D+ and totally forgot about this weekend being Celebration) Pray to your god for me, as such may be your fashion.

The same worry I have for OWK is carried over here; we've already seen this character's death in the SW universe, what compelling story is there by going back in time here? That said................... This. Looks. Awesome!

Ep 2 down. So far, I'm waiting for the "it's dark" to kick in. There's already been some happenings that seem to conflict with established story stuff, so I'm interested to see that resolve.

OWK episode 1 is… okay. The acting is iffy, specifically the inquisitors. They do not fit into this world at all. I’m assuming they’re characters from the cartoon because they are definitely cartoonish. Love seeing Ewan back but I sure do hope there’s a worthwhile story to tell here. Rogue One enhanced ANH. This needs to do the same otherwise what’s the point? I’ll watch episode 2 tonight.
Also Flea is terrible.

Episode 2 thoughts. The Inquisitors are shockingly bad in this, including Moses Ingram which is surprising because I thought she was great in Queen's Gambit. I'm trying to keep an open mind here, and there were things that stood out, but overall I'm very meh on the first two episodes.

Theory:
Moses Ingram is one of the younglins from the beginning Order 66 scene.

Been thinking more about the two eps and I’m prepared to say that they’re straight up bad. Ewan is great but the writing, acting and action scenes are laughably bad. I hope this improves soon because I hate to see another Ewan Obi performance wasted.

I think most of us can agree that the 4-minute recap of the prequels was the best version of those films ever.

The only thing I thought was weak story: Rescuing Princess Leia is the oldest plot MacGuffin in SW, but the identity of the person who got OWK out of retirement should've been anonymous, and the target of his mission a secret to the audience. Play it off like OWK knows who he's talking to on the magic communicator the whole time, but the audience doesn't know (scrambled voice or something, the Empire is watching). "I'm not the man I was 10 years ago" dithering. Then just have the scrambled voice person on the line be like "We are desperate, they're threatening violence you're our last hope" Something callback-y but still vague like that. That way he sets out in a mission with sufficiently high stakes that would've allowed the reveal of Young Leia on Planet Hong Kong to be a sort of "hello there" moment when OWK opened her cell door; up to that point we don't know who or what to expect when he opens that doorr, and boom it's a bossy 4th grader. All of the Alderaan stuff could've been skipped imo; it felt like little more than a convoluted way to get R2 and 3PO on screen.

The Inquisitors are cool; wait till you see how they get around! Reva might be the first Youngling the camera tracks over at the beginning of Ep 1 when Order 66 is shown. I was looking for a visual reference to Grogu's memory of O66 but didn't pick up on it...... if that Youngling is Reva, what if she's the one who saved Grogu? What if she saved him and turned him over to OWK, and maybe she's so maniacal for tracking down Kenobi because she thinks he has the green kid? It seems like Luke and Leia's significance is still unknown to everyone but Ben, Bail, and Yoda (and apparently Owen Lars?)

Also we went to Disneyland today and rode Rise Of The Resistance. So if I'm honest I'm not fully capable of objectivity right now.

Sorry I don’t care how cool the inquisitors were in the cartoon, they’re awful in this. Everything from the writing, acting, and character design. Maybe some things should stay animated.

I was not aware of this bullshittery, but sadly I am not surprised by it.

Sometime between the end of Mando Se2 and the beginning of BOBF I started getting all manner of vile SW content promoted on my 'Recommended' tape on YouTube. Then it sort of went off the scale with the release of the Tolkien teaser. People with the most rancid, foul 'takes' about the characters (or worse, the actors). I guess it really started in earnest with Rose in TLJ, but I didn't see too much of it at the time. But for whatever reason, a year or so ago YT thought "here's something Tif will like" *click* "8-minutes of bigotry". No, YT. Tif will not like this. Please tell what I clicked last week to make you think this was my jam.

Watched the first episode of obiwan. It's not what I was expecting. It seems rather simple so far? I like Leia, but that scene where she is running in the woods has to be an accident right? It was not good, like someone screwed up and kept in some deleted scenes? Something is definitely off so far, not sure if it's the camera work (which I did not like) or what. Hopefully it picks up.
