Despite the depth they have on the DL, losing Weaver and Camp for the season would be devastating.Pro Football Focus tweeted out that on Saturday night, Keyshon Camp generated 6 QB pressures and 1 defensive stop in 19 snaps played. That's pretty ridiculous production, and it's going to sting even more if this ACL injury turns out to be true.

Weaver was pitt's best player. Camp was one of pitt's best players. Pitt sure as hell isn't good enough to recover for the lost of 2 of the best five or 6 players

As we're discussing some history of Pitt fandom stuff, here's mine.
Full disclosure: I actually didn't like Pitt at first. At all. In fact, my intro to college football was at age 11 with the 1987 Fiesta Bowl - Miami vs. UPS - and I cheered for Penn State. DJ Dozier became an instant favorite of mine - in part because he reminded me a bit of Curt Warner (I was/am a Seahawks fan and he's still one of my favorite players). I started really following college football in 1987 and my favorite team became Michigan. Loved the helmets. I didn't care much for Pitt...not sure why. I just didn't like many things Pittsburgh-related growing up (didn't like the Steelers, hated the Pirates, etc.).
That changed in 1991, exclusively because two kids from Erie ended up at Pitt - Tim Colicchio and Dietrich Jells. I was sort of a high school teammate of Colcchio's (he was a senior when I was a freshman) and Jells played for one of our league opponents, Tech Memorial.
I started college at W&J in the fall of '94. I kept an eye on Pitt through the mid-1990s, mostly following the Erie guys but also loved watching Billy West. It was Walt's first year team in 1997 that really caught my interest and then the 1999 team cemented me as a fan. I loved watching Antonio Bryant, Latef Grim, and Ramon Walker.
When I started at my job in 2001, my boss at the time and his boss were both Pitt alums and season ticket holders, so that made for a pretty cool work environment. With the exception of maybe one or two seasons, I think I've gone to at least one game every year since 2001.

Super panthers favored by a mere 5.5 points against the bobcats. only a moron would bet on a pitt game, but this seems like a safe bet as far as pitt games go.
that being said, I hope they don't take this game too lightly

S&P+ predicts Ohio 37 Pitt 35.
Really looking forward to this 11 AM game and the possibility that my kid sees me slowly lose my mind as Pickett throws a 3rd INT early in the third quarter in a 21-21 game.

Does this general negativity from the brown and the dunn stem from anything beyond Kenneth shane pickett's ineptitude? Or does it just begin and end with bad QB play?

Bad QB play, I don't think Narduzzi is a very good game day tactician, and I'm not sold on either of the young RBs, who are Narduzzi guys for the first time. Ulizio looked like **** against UVA, but I think there's potential with the OL and I think the defense looks good. QB, Head Coach, and to a lesser degree the RBs. Those are the roots of my negativity.

The sentiment I described in that post has only hardened after the loss on Saturday, and having blown those opportunities in nearly every single instance, I find it hard to believe that anything meaningful is going to change. The obvious variables there are (1) improvements in recruiting and/or (2) high-end QB play, which can mask lots of other problems. I think he's been decent at recruiting going by stars outside of last year's class which was in the bottom quartile of the P5, but realistically, who is the best collegiate player he recruited and developed? Probably Weaver. Hamlin isn't that good, to be honest. Hopefully Ford lives up to the hype. This class looks good so far and they need to hang on to these guys. Going 6-6 is going to make that much harder.
On the possibility of high end QB play, let's say that Pickett, over his 15 or 16 starts or whatever its been, has been average so far (which is probably generous). What's his best case next year as a senior with 25 plus career starts under his belt? Competent game manager?
To end my post on a positive note since I am very concerned that the Marsupial believes I am being generally negative:

To echo Slappy, my own inability to keep my emotions in check during Pitt contests has made my daughter, not only a huge fan of Pitt, but already convinced that Kenny Shane is no longer, A) Cute, B) Her future husband.

I think we can all agree that this team is probably the deepest team of the Narduzzi era, and by default the deepest team since the end of the wanny era. Kenneth Shane Pickett is bad and so is the offensive line, and perhaps OU is good. But geez a 4 point line? The betting world is very skeptical of this team.

this is a very good point, but as someone pointed out, if there is one position where pitt could afford to lose guys, it was the defensive line
that being said, it sucks to be without both of those guys the whole season.
