my take on Lane Stadium:

I've been there twice (during vick's sophomore year 2000, classic pitt loss) and during the tom savage era (classic chryst era loss). I can see the potential for the stadium to get loud, and it was definitely loud during the vick era. but that during that savage game it was more or less apathetic. it might be slightly rowdy now that VT is ranked.

some notable pitt stats from that 2000 game:

VT was ranked #2
The original prima donna AB (Antonio Bryant) had 9 catches for 114 yards and 3 touchdowns.
All three pitt running backs (barlow, goings, polite) got serious run in the NFL

John turman: 17-26, 4 tds, 1 pick

(or from a TV in the club)
we can only assume that brown was watching from the club

I was sick and didn't go to the game. (gutless? perhaps) and the general take from the radio crew was that a. the review shouldn't take so long b. if the review is that long, the evidence isn't conclusive and you shouldn't over turn it c. it was probably a catch anyway

- That is interesting regarding the punters. And doesn't speak very highly of the backup punter. I've thought that Christodoulou has been much improved over the inconsistent disaster he was last year and Kessman's one punt went a whopping 42 yards.

- One of the Super Football Panthers highest ranked commits received an offer letter from Michigan yesterday. I hate these last minute poaching attempts. **** Harbaugh. Signing day can't come soon enough.

- The NBA yesterday featured a matchup of two former Pitt players. It should be surprising to no one that 4-year dedicated Super Panther Brad Wannamaker came out victorious, both personally and for the team, with 10 points and 6 assists compared to ship jumping **** burger Cam Johnson's 8 points on 3 of 10 from the field.

Curious for anyone that didn't attend and watched the Pitt game on TV (or from a TV in the club) - what was the verdict on the Shocky TD being overturned? Was there a better angle than what we saw on the scoreboard? Was Pat McAfee openly calling refs out for having UNC +5?

It was a TD.

I think it's going to be loud just for the fact that it is also Bud Fosters last home game.

There was no mention of de-committing, he already chose Pitt over the likes of Maryland, VTech, Wake, and Notre Dame, and he'll get on the field a hell of a lot sooner at Pitt than Michigan, so hopefully he sticks.

So is there a chance that Pitt could finish first in the Coastal and meet my people in Charlotte? Or is that loss to Virginia ruin any chance of that?

Pitt needs to win out and UVA needs to lose a game.

UVA has Liberty and VA Tech left on the schedule.

This was a topic of much panic and discussion on Panther Lair as well, especially because Addison's stock has risen a ton since the start of his senior year and he looks like someone who could legitimately contribute next season.

For whatever it's worth, the PL staff and a few others offered the following to help calm some nerves:
- ND has been recruiting him pretty much since Pitt offered and Addison hasn't wavered at all there. Someone said that's because ND was recruiting him to play defense. I've not seen that reported anywhere and even if it was the case, I'm guessing Brian Kelly has seen Addison's WR film and has changed his approach.

- Last week, Panther Lair reported that there were at least five kids in Pitt's 2020 class who were planning on enrolling in January. They were RB Israel Abanikanda, LB AJ Roberts, LB Solomon Deshields, WR Ayden Hanningham, and...WR Jordan Addison.

- Most importantly, Peak said Addison has been pretty firm with his commitment to Pitt and it's largely been because he's got a great relationship with WR coach Chris Beatty.

None of this could mean anything and he could flip but unless Beatty leaves for another job, it sounds like Pitt's still in good shape with him.

If they can hold on to Addison and RB Henry Parrish, that would be huge.

obviously pitt should be able to sell early playing time to both Addison and parrish.

The good thing is UVA isn't ranked. If Pitt wins out they should be either in the ACCCG (if VT beats UVA) or the Orange Bowl (if UVA beats VT and takes an L to Clemson).

The hoakies are currently four point favorites in this game. This hendon hooker guy pretty much took the job over from Ryan willis, which is unfortunate for pitt because willis stunk. hendon is throwing like 20 passes a game but has been efficient.

I've been thinking. Who do you guys consider our "rival" in the ACC. Cuse, Miami, VT? I've been leaning toward VT lately. Not that it's too hateful but there have been a lot of good games and history back to the BE

My uncle went to Vtech so there's a small soft spot for them. And pre-dog killer Vick was one of the most fun players I've ever seen play college football.

Rival? Maybe the Orange just due to past BE allegiances. Does this stretch across all sports or just football?

Miami or VT because of the Big East history. Cuse is small potatoes. Nobody else in the Atlantic Division matters to me. Virginia, UNC, Dook, and GT can all **** off, but I don't consider any of them rivals.

As far as basketball, the other thing resembling a rival is Cuse but it doesn't matter because neither school has felt like a good fit for ACC basketball. The move from the Big East was necessary, but I will miss Big East basketball until the day I die or lose my mind to old age.

Fuente is a jagoff so that doesn't help VT's case.

I look forward to playing all of the teams in the coastal (and Syracuse) but I don't have that rival hate.

Assume a 25-30 pt loss for UVA similar to Pitt's last year. UVA is now 9-4 and Pitt is 9-3 assuming they take care of business. I dont think the committee puts Pitt ahead of UVA where UVA has the head to head win and won the division and Pitt didn't. If this were the old days of just the polls, maybe, but I'd bet against Pitt making the Orange Bowl under these circumstances. I think they need UVA to lose by 40 plus and just get massacred.
