If the ACC ran cornflakes a lot of people wouldn't get breakfast.

UNC is gonna beat UVA huh

UVA wins. Thanks for nothing, UNC.

Hot take: it might be better for Pitt if they and UVA both win out.

And by win out for UVA I mean they get plastered in the ACCCG after winning out

Yeah I want no part of Pitt getting plastered by Clemson. Let UVA have the honor this year.

Not that I don't want to play Clemson. But if Clemson goes to the CFP, the next highest ranked ACC team gets the orange bowl. That loss could drop UVA below PittYeah I want no part of Pitt getting plastered by Clemson. Let UVA have the honor this year.

These second half offfensive struggles are alarming to say the least. My question is this: is this a coordinator problem or a head coach problem?
I say it is a Narduzzi problem. He is right to be confident in the defense, but the rest of the college football world sees a ten point lead in the third quarter and says “lets make it a 25 point lead” while Narduzzi says ‘let’s ride out the storm”
I know a lot of people have been souring on whipple over the past few games but i still think he is doing a good job. He can’t force guys to catch balls and he cant make aj davis any faster or more elusive. He cant make good davis bigger. He cant make this crap offensive line better. He cant force cement head Narduzzi to college teams win by scoring lots of points.

Re winning the Coastal, we dont live in our fears. Win the division back to back and play more football. Clemson 2019 doesn't look like Clemson 2018. Which means we'd only be 23 point dogs instead of 27 point dogs.
But mainly, just go 9-3. Not since Wanny and a 27-22 win over ND to move to 9-1 and 8th in the country (!) has a Pitt team won 9 regular season games. And no, we are not going to discuss what happened next.

Step 1, finally beat UNC, especially on a Thursday night in an empty stadium.

I'd love another shot at Clemson but I think I'd like an Orange Bowl more. So go 9-3 and head to Miami when UVA gets waxed by Clemson

This freshman UNC qb seems to be pretty damn good no? I want to believe Pitt can beat of all teams UNC on a Thursday night, but my head says I'm nuts.

Howell is pretty good. They have a couple of good RBs in Javonte Williams and Michael Carter that keep defenses honest, and this allows them to try to throw deep a lot. Dyami Brown in their big-play WR and he leads the ACC in yards per reception. To be honest, their offense reminds me a lot of what Pitt's offense could have been last year with a solid QB and an offensive coordinator not named Shawn Watson. This freshman UNC qb seems to be pretty damn good no? They don't run a lot of high-tempo like UCF did so this may play into Pitt's hands when Howell drops back to throw. He's good but he's also a true freshman. Other teams have gotten to him and this will be the best defense he's seen at least since Clemson and maybe all year.

UNC gave Clemson fits earlier this year. A bad 2 PT conversion play was the only thing keeping Clemson from losing that game. Mack Brown is a good coach.

Howell is very good. Pitt's D should slow him down and UNC's D is bad enough that Pitt should be able to put enough points on the board to beat him

Appy State and Wake Forest aren't bad losses either. VT about as bad as the loss against miami. They don't really have a bad loss on the books.UNC gave Clemson fits earlier this year. A bad 2 PT conversion play was the only thing keeping Clemson from losing that game. Mack Brown is a good coach.

I think Pitt's defense can get to Howell and I don't know that they have anything in the receiving game as good as what Pitt already faced against UCF and with Hamlin/Dodson/Freiermuth at UPS. I'll happily watch this Pitt defense go into a game with anyone. If they can contain UNC's running game, I think it puts all the more pressure on Howell to make good reads and throws. If he doesn't have the time to do that, I can see Pitt forcing a turnover or two there.
I think Peak said it best in his drive-home podcast after GT. The key - and it's been nine games, so this really is what they are at this point - will be whether Pitt's offense will be bad enough to let UNC hang around this game. Pitt's defense has been good enough to win games for them this year; it's the offense that is allowing opposing teams to stick around in these games.
I don't know how it happens, but the offense's ability to finally find some consistency and finish drives with touchdowns over these last three games will really be what determines this team's fate this year.
