It might be the hockey player in me, but if you’re gonna take a run at a guy and obviously take a penalty, please get your money’s worth. Don’t bump him with those oops hands up. Smoke him

That's ok ACC Network I don't watch third down plays as a rule anyway.

That's one of the worst calls I've ever seen. It doesn't matter who Pitt plays, where they play them, or who provides the refs we get hosed every time.

Yeah that phantom running into the kicker penalty was one of the worst calls I've seen.

What was the point of standing there in the huddle? If you're not going to run a play and are willing to take 5 yards anyway, why not try to draw them offside? Is there lead in the water at Heinz field?

Just take the W and move on to Duke. I'm not really into drawing conclusions on a game that featured Pitt without it's QB and top 2 RBs so whatever. Though I was surprised to see 440 yards of offense. The D played well enough too without Pinnockw, Pine and Reynolds.

Duke may be in a prime spot for a similar let down game next week imo. This may be a little blessing in disguise to get them focused again. H2P

Patti - ehh. Not bad, not great. Fine backup. Throws a better deep ball than KSP actually. Too slow to make throws imo. Had Mack on the TD for about 3 whole seconds and almost waited too long because the slant coming from the other side almost brought the safety right into Mack. But all in all not a horrible showing for his first game

Should have taken more deep throws in the second and third quarter. Assuming they were seeing cover 2 though since there were so many wr screens during that period and nothing deep. Might be generous in that assumption though. Maybe just nervous after the int and other dangerous passes

Defensively would have been more dominant but they were facing a poised, scrambling qb that rolled out of inside pressure well. Pitt often tried to neutralize that with corner blitzes to their credit as that qb was never looking deep

A win is a win. If this is their annual crap-burger of a game, all the better because they still came away with a win.

I can't say I'm entirely surprised at how they played, given not just the volume of key starters that would up sitting but also the fact that they were coming off of two pretty emotional wins. Honestly, given the stakes of the opener, having the pressure of a decent MAC team coming to town in Week Two after losing said opener, and then the back-to-back games at UPS and then hosting UCF, this was really the first game where the team could collectively take a little bit of a breath all season and it probably showed in the way they played.

I thought Nick Patti played a decent game. That strike on the game-winning TD to Mack was a thing of beauty; he threaded that pass through three Delaware defenders. Bostick echoed the sentiments expressed above that he's a little slow getting the ball out and this probably cost him some plays but he looked decent enough. I agree that he does seem to throw a more accurate deep ball than Pickett.

I thought Sibley got better as the game went on. Pitt had some success running behind Warren and Hargrove. Hopefully that keeps up.

What bothered me more than anything were the mistakes. Specifically, the dumb penalties (Ulizio's false start penalties in the 2nd half drove me insane), the turnovers in their own end, and their inability to force a turnover all combined to make this a much more difficult game than it needed to be. To that end, some thoughts...

- Pitt is up 7-0 two plays into the game if Damar Hamlin doesn't do a dead-on impression of Ike Taylor.

- I'll re-iterate. Nolan Ulizio is a fifth-year senior. If he can't remember a snap count, get him the hell off the field.

- Kudos to Sibley for getting to 100 yards.

- Minor complaint, but I would have liked to have seen Daniel Carter get a few carries. V'Lique Carter isn't effective running between the tackles.

- Consider this:

2018 Taysir Mack: 25 receptions, 557 yards, 1 TD in 12 games
2018 Maurice Ffrench: 35 receptions, 515 yards, 6 TDs in 12 games

2019 Taysir Mack: 32 receptions, 426 yards, 1 TD in 5 games
2019 Maurice Ffrench: 40 receptions, 342 yards, 2 TD in 5 games

Holy hell, was Shawn Watson awful at getting these guys the ball.

- I love seeing Twyman become such a disruptive force up front. In the interests of selfishness though, I hope we're also not watching him play his way into the 2020 NFL Draft.

Narduzzi will never say anything, but it would be nice to know if he was treating this like an NFL preaseason game, but he sure as hell seemed like it. In the last actual play of the half, at least two of the receivers, Jared Wayne and mystery depth chart guy vardzel, were on the field. Obviously they didnt convert and had to settle on a field goal. That kind of miffed me that they treated that possession so casually.

THat being said it was a win. We are more or less at the halfway mark. Should be a very interesting ACC schedule

Everyone is injured. KSP, Jason Pinnock, Chase Pine, Elias Reynolds, Albert Tucker, A.J. Davis, Vincent Davis and Kyle Vreen.
Btw... according to someone that I work with who is in the know, all except Kenneth were on some sort of internally handled suspension for the game. KSP was actually a little banged up.

Take that for what it's worth.... very much hearsay.
