Holy ****, just watched Chungking Express...man, you get about 25 minutes in (rules need to be established 15, but I was tired from some night tennis) and you just hope this movie is taking place on August 5, 1945...what a big pile of trash...

This movie stinks. The Mamas and the Papas stink. Have a ham sandwich and an atomic bomb you *****...

Without putting too much thought into it, I'll say, Top 5 action, for pure kicks and enjoyment...

Commando
Predator
The Raid: Redemption
Legend of the Drunken Master
Bloodsport

But it's a fine line were I'm like, movies like Die Hard and True Lies are fantastic films with great action to complement what's already going on....but I guess when I'm considering top action movies, it's purely on enjoyment derived from the set pieces alone and nothing else. I wanna get it and get out, and see a bunch of ass-kicking in the interim.

I have a weak spot for Vengeance but I can recognize that Die Hard is objectively the best movie of the series.

Uh

https://deadline.com/2022/08/conor-mcgr ... 235083836/
The new take follows a former UFC fighter (Gyllenhaal) who takes a job as a bouncer at a rough-and-tumble roadhouse in the Florida Keys, but soon discovers that not everything is what it seems in this tropical paradise. While exact details behind who McGregor will be playing are unknown, sources made it clear he would be playing an original character and not himself in the project.

The thing about Die Hard is that it's a Christmas movie. The plot of Die Hard is completely reliant upon it being a Christmas party. It's more of a Christmas movie than any other Christmas movie, especially non-Christmas movies like It's A Wonderful Life.

Also, Vengeance is great.

gotta disagree with you about Prey skullman. My eyes were rolling the entire movie. I’d give it a 6.2/10

Prey was good. As mentioned, the CGI was a bit meh at times, but the story, etc. was enjoyable. I didn't think there were any eyeroll moments, and in fact thought the one callback to the original was well done.

Enjoyed House of Gucci, but felt like it took it's time to get going only to say oh ****, we better end this fast.

Oh awesome. When I was watching this gigantic turd my main thought was "if this was only 14 minutes longer..."

The more I think about it, the better I think Prey was. I really hope we get another one.

International Disney+ is wild. America is slowly catching up. I watched Deadpool on there and it just felt wrong.

Prey was awesome. Top 3 predator movie for sure. Loved it. Nice little callback to predator 2 with the pistol. Shame this movie wasn't in theaters. More like this please.

Yep, loved the easter eggs in this. I heard there is some artwork after the credits that hints to a sequel, and given that it's receiving great reviews, I have to imagine that one will happen. The main character was outstanding.

Wall drawing artwork during credits
just showed the ship coming back presumably to get the body and pistol

Alright sorry, I gotta go into my issues with Prey to balance out this praise

putting it in spoilers just in case
-already mentioned the distractingly bad CGI

-every character felt one dimensional as all hell other than the brother really. particularly the non-brother natives who were comically antagonistic and the French who had less depth than the guerrillas in the first one

-Naru’s character development was incredibly heavy handed and painfully obvious how it was going to go. Felt like 1950’s Disney-tier writing

-how the **** does the Predator not know how his own weapon works when already once in the movie he sees that the projectile spikes go wherever the helmet laser sights are pointed?
like I said, just very eye-roll enduring the entire time for me. I know it’s more “turn your brain off” than I give it credit for but it didn’t really entertain me enough for me to ignore its flaws

And I really wanted to like it because I think the setting is cool and I think it’s great how they had effectively an all American Indian cast. But it just missed the mark for me
