If I never knew it was a book and watched the movie first, there really wasn't much about it that would have made me interested in reading the book and finding out there are thousands and thousands of people who were forced into this lifestyle because of the country and economy in the last decade. I thought they really missed the good stuff

Well, that's disappointing.

That movie has a ton of good buzz. It'll likely be a Best Picture nom along with Best Actress for Frances McDormand.

I feel it's very rare that eddy doesn't like a movie. I feel like he likes just about everything.

It is rare for me to not like a movie, and don't get me wrong, the movie is fine, it's just not what I wanted after reading the book. There is a much better and important story to this rather than the drama they focused on, that's all.

The wife and I were tired last night and turned in early, around 9pm. I put on Uncle Buck for something to fall asleep to. Turns out she's never seen it and we stayed up through the whole thing just laughing. Was a good evening.

My wife only made it through 75% of the book and thought both were boring. It's very rare for her not to finish a book.

The thing of it is, you have a book with very interesting real people and you bring them all along for the movie, but focus on the fictional characters leaving the good stuff in the background. Just didn't work for me.

I'll say this as well, it started off pretty strong, I even got choked up in the first 30 minutes and thought this is wonderful, then I saw the dad from river wild show up and look at Frances and knew this wasn't going to finish well.

Haha, I wanted to like it so bad because the book was wonderful. Oh well, got sonic the hedgehog for family movie night tonight, so going to really test the theory of you can only go up from here

I like how McDormand actually lived the life (as did the director) during filming: she bought and outfitted her van, and did a lot of the jobs as depicted in the film (and book). Pretty cool.

Yeah, she seems like a pretty cool person, I wish she wasn't such a **** downer in the movie. She moped the entire movie which I guess was the point of her nomad origin story.

You just explained 90% of all award season films.

Hahahaha, you aren't kidding, I guess that's why psycho goreman remains the best movie I've seen in the last year

Here's more in depth what I was trying to say about the book and how the movie missed the point

It looks like they didn't want to piss off Amazon. Linda May - and many others in the book - complained about Amazon's working conditions. Interesting.

Amazon and all the other working locations were about 45 seconds of the movie.

Not really sure how to break the news to everyone, but somehow Sonic the hedgehog was a very fun movie. Jim Carrey was great and I can't wait to watch it again and the sequel next year. Way better than Nomadland.

I just want to say after watching Ghostbusters this past weekend again for the 5000th time... that movie is perfect. There is not a single scene that drags, it's just a perfect movie in every way.

Harold Ramis is rolling over in his grave right now haha.

(I've still never seen and never will see the 2016 reboot/remake whatever it was)
