@Freddy Rumsen - Have you seen Dark Waters yet? It's the movie about Dupont poisoning the water in Parkersburg. Not edge of your seat entertainment, but a really interesting flick.

No I haven't. I know several people who worked at that plant after they closed the one in Charleston.

I have seen a doc on the same subject but did not know there was a movie. Neat.

It's a good flick. Definitely drags in places as the subject matter is a little dry/technical, but it's a fascinating story.

Watched King of Staten Island last night and it wasn’t as bad as I expected. It didn’t really go anywhere but I enjoyed the non-journey.

Is that the same Deep DVD Discount that existing in the early 2000s? If so, wow. I used to order a ton from them.

Once the Steelers game got out of hand, like in the first quarter, we fired up Office Space. Still so good, but my kids were laughing at the shots of the computer screens when Michael Bolton was making the virus. I guess MS DOS is pretty funny these days.

Teases R-rating? You simply cannot make a Deadpool movie with anything less than an R rating.

Yeah. It's a bad headline. He didn't tease the R-rating, he confirmed it.
“It will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan’s overseeing a script right now… It will not be [filming] this year. Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor. We’ve got a number of things we’ve already announced that we now have to make, but it’s exciting for it to have begun. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life.”

One would think the same for Coming 2 America.

Oh yeah, no way to do Deadpool otherwise. People were concerned since it's now in the MCU and closer to Disney and all that jazz.

My vote goes to AWIL because the character performance that comes through the makeup is tremendous imo, even if much of the time it's an animatronic. The transformation looks fantastically painful and excruciating, which makes the whole thing all the more terrifying.

Although, if we're including Spider Head, we must also consider the Chestburster, which is obviously the correct and final answer.

Recent Pixar movie dump (ranked in order of enjoyment):

Soul: Echo the sentiments regarding nocera's summary (and even if it were unapolagetically black, who the **** cares). For me this was a very good, not great, film (and I play piano and studied jazz drums for a while and often feel creatively unfulfilled, so you think it'd be in my wheelhouse haha). Props first and foremost to the animation. They did some really cool things with the medium, and the film is a visual treat to watch. For the most part it also nicely avoided the "overload of chase scenes necessary to keep kids' attention spans" that seems to plague most animated movies. I'm still making up my mind if I liked the very end or think it's a bit of a cop out (maybe a bit of both haha). Still, it's always nice to see Pixar deliver movies at the quality they've shown they're capable of.

Brave: This one caught me by surprise. I figured I had it pegged from the moment I saw the trailer way back, and the general reaction seemed to confirm my suspicions, which is why I never got around to seeing it (although I feel like it was an easy narrative to latch onto, as after batting 1,000, Pixar released Cars 2, and then Brave, so it was easy to say "They don't have it anymore!"). But the plot takes a really big swing I wasn't at all expecting, and as a result the scope of the story feels refreshingly insular, and as a result I was extremely engaged from then on. Worth checking out if you avoided it for the reasons I did.

The Good Dinosaur: Another visually beautiful film, and also, extremely funny, which I was not expecting. There are some creative, inspired plot choices up top which, but unfortunately after that there's not much else to the film. This one definitely suffers from the "chase scene overload" I mentioned above. Also, the complete lack of a denouement did not help things. Usually I'm a favor of less rather than more as far as that's concerned, but its absence cheapened the stakes established at the film's onset, which left a sort of "....okay?" feeling at the end.

Onward: It's okay. That's really about all I can say. Like, it's fine, I liked the story well enough. I think it's another case of the "Pixar Burden" being placed upon it, but no studio can produce quality hit after hit, especially when they make such a high volume of films. Didn't feel like the first watch was a waste or anything, but can't see myself revisiting this one.

The Incredibles 2: Wow, what happened. I was looking forward to this one too. Instead it felt utterly disposable. Very disappointed. That's about all I can say
