I don't remember the original Dune, and never read the book. The trailer looks good.

I'll try this again

So you have Dave Bautista, Jason Momoa, grit guys like Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem... but your Kwisatz Haderach has the physical properties of a 6 year old?

I'm excited. I think he'll do great. I'm going to start reading the book tonight.

Literally on page 2 it discusses how he is small for his age.

What is he, 16 in the first book? And he's not physically overpowering, more prophetic and able to read the situation.

Trailer looks great. The book is very deep, so it'll be interesting to see how much of it is brought to the screen.

At the very least, it'll probably look dope af and have a great atmosphere/mood, like most Villeneuve movies.

Yes 16. Just read the first 2 chapters. Can't believe I haven't read this before. Shame. Are all the books good?

Also, I believe the movie is just the first half of the book.

Unfortunately no, Eddy. I made it through the first two or three, but it was so much dialog and little action that it was hard to keep my interest. If you are really into world building, politics and the like, it may be for you. But I just couldn't keep up.

I mean, it's probably a sign that Herbert was a genius (even if mad) and I'm an illiterate schlub, so you may like it. Book 2 was still good, but 3 is where it started to go down hill imo.

Watch the documentary Jodorowsky's Dune. That would have been one bonkers-ass movie.

Yes! I pre-ordered the jodorowsky box set that comes out next week and having never seen anything from him except that, I'm pretty excited to take a trip to a different planet

Well that is extremely sexist, racist, etc-ist.

Check out Mark Harris' thoughts on this on the 8th/9th for why this A) Basically changes nothing, and B) Might actually hurt indie films more than big studio films: https://twitter.com/MarkHarrisNYC?ref_s ... r%5Eauthor

In summation: Studios can easily pay for internships/advertising to hit the 2 of the 4 requirements they need, whereas indie films with smaller budgets might face more of a roadblock.

Obligatory "IMDB ratings are garbage."

How is 101 Dalmatians have one of the largest net changes? That movie is great.

The "don't touch it, it's already good" crowd is probably vastly more vocal than the "eh, could be good, I'll check it out" crowd.

I'm not going to argue that the remakes are good. Well, except maybe 101 Dalmatians. But, I also don't really care that they exist. Same with other reboots or remakes. It's not like they replace the original. It's just another option.

Glenn Close was great as Cruella, but everything else about that movie...meh.

Why is the New Yorker carrying water for the sexualization of children, turning it into a "right wing" smear campaign? Last I checked, people from both sides of the political spectrum largely agreed the content and marketing campaign for Cuties was disturbing.

Is there a corresponding infographic that shows the comparative boxoffice grosses? Because adjusting for inflation, the 1991 animated Beauty And The Beast made the 2020 equivalent of $840 million, and the 2017 live-action remake earned $1.2 billion.

Yeah, who cares about ratings, give me that BO disparity, that's really what matters anyway.

The faux outrage over that film amazes me.
