One other thing about family film nights over the last few months: my kids are disappointed that the films just end. For instance, they both asked and were disappointed when we told them there was no Rain Man 2 or Jerry Maguire 2. When Tom Cruise, Renee Zellweger, and the little kid walk off into the sunset, that's all...

They are so used to sequels, prequels, and so on from the Marvel, Star Wars, Star Trek, whatever, they are just conditioned to expect a film's story to be drawn out into multiple movies.

Anyone else's kids like this?

Haha, oh my yes. My youngest (8) is also big on saying I don't really like talky movies and that's either a byproduct of too many marvel movies or too many period movies. Either way I'm blaming the non stop action superhero flicks for ruining their enjoyment of good movies. He's also 8 and watches mighty ducks and rad about 3 or 4 times a week before I even get out of bed, so I have to take that into consideration

We've talked about this phenomenon ITT before, in a different context. I haven't checked in a while, but a couple years ago when we were discussing it, of the 50 highest grossing films of all-time only like 3 of them were original IPs.... and one of those (Avatar) was really just reskinning an old story, and not strictly original. The rest of the films were adaptations of printed material (LOTR, comic books, etc) and/or sequels.

watched Field of Dreams for the first time last night

I mean this in a good way: what a cute movie. It was funny, charming and had a legit emotional punch at the end.

Albeit I relate to both the love for baseball and complicated relationship with my dad angles but it was really really good. I expected it to be overly cheesy but it wasn't really at all.

The best part of that trailer is the old Orion Pictures logo.

How much do movies on demand usually cost when they are doing the theater release at the same time?

I'm not sure if there's a standard price but I've noticed that many are around $20.

Absolutely. Especially with that **** they released last year. The GDT series never did great at the box office but had a loyal fan base that had grown since the movies came out and would have had the benefit of GDT becoming an even bigger name. Dumb.

What was I paged for?

I looked back and didn't see anything specific.

However, no... no one else's kids were ever upset that there was not a Rain Man 2...

Donnie Brasco would have been a more popular if the first thing they showed was Lefty arguing about which car is best. The garbage slow music meander set the stage for a nap.

For some reason my brain autocorrected Brasco to Darko, and I was like "WTF are you talking about????"

Would have been more popular with The Swayze as well. As a whole on Brasco seems like they wanted to tell a story that showed the mob, that life, and undercover work as the most depressing things possible in life.
