DD, when Moulin Rouge came out the lady I was dating at the time was all "WE HAVE TO SEE THIS" and I was not super enthusiastic about it. We went to see it, and she thought it was pretty meh, but I absolutely loved it. So I think I might enjoy this Barnum movie.
Moulin Rouge at least has this kind of manic energy to it that propels everything forward (even if it proves to be too much and borders on exhausting by the end of the film).

Greatest Showman is just totally by-the-numbers, not a surprise in store. Definitely my biggest disappoint of the past year (since I also went in assuming I'd enjoy it).

Also, "A Quiet Place" was solid, if unspectacular. Taut, efficient little film that ends precisely at the right time.

for whatever it's worth, I thought Greatest Showman looked liked garbage going in and expected it to bomb. I agree it's by the numbers, but still enjoyed it.

RE: filmstruck, I wonder how this works if you work at a university, but are not technically a student.

FILMSTRUCK STUDENT SUBSCRIPTION

Students save more than 35% with our academic discount. Only $39.99 every 6 months!
I would guess you just need a university email; promotions like this never check if you're a matriculated student or something

I used my old student email years after I graduated until I lost access to the actual email
how is the streaming quality?

The way I describe it is if you can get through the 'Because We Can Can' number early on, you'll be fine. That's kind of an audience litmus test of visual shotgun stimulus.

I think that looks awesome and quite honestly they haven't really made a great one since the first, so I'm glad they are trying some different things. JA Bayona nailed the emotion with the monster in A Monster Calls, I think he will do good things here.

I liked Jurassic World. It wasn't great, but it was the best since the original(which was a masterpiece). The original still holds up too. That said.. I dunno this just looks not very good.

I can still watch the original any time it's on TV. It's damn near perfect. And the scene where the T-Rex breaks free, with the surround sound and subwoofer on? Amazing.

One of the biggest reasons the original JP holds up is that there are only like six or seven minutes of CG dinos in it.

JP2 looks like total ****. Maybe that's why Trevorrow was fired from Star Wars.

I still don't know how people are getting upset with this one after what they saw from the 4 that came from the original. If these are going in cycles and JW was a retread of JP1, this already looks a million times improved from JP2

I think it just looks bad. I'll see it. Jeff Goldblum alone makes me want to watch it, but nothing in any of the trailers makes it looks like its going to be good to me. At all.

Do you have issues with buffering during the movies or do they play straight through?

Ah. I've seen five films on it (on my app and I chromecasted it) and only one minor issue with buffering during the film
