Oh, Kasdan co-wrote TFA and Solo and he is set to write and direct November Road, based on Lou Berney's outstanding novel. Small world.

Wyatt Earp or Tombstone

My 80s western answer tells you where I come out on that.
Tombstone was released in the 90s. I think Wyatt Earp was too, but that movie sucks compared to Tombstone, so my interest level isn't high enough to know for sure

You are right. But you are also wrong, so that's fun.

Name your favorite Western movie from the 1980s. Tbh, I can't even think of many good one beyond Pale Rider and Long Riders.

eddy, eddy, eddy...
Went through a Gary Busey phase in high school (The Chain remains one of his/the best movie ever) and found Barbarosa in a Goodwill on VHS and couldn't pass up the opportunity to watch Gary and Willie Nelson get after it. It did not disappoint.

I remember being 9 or 10 and the naked lady on the horse from YGII and her saying White Oaks, you can kiss my ass or something like that. That's really what jumps out first to me when I hear anything about YG

Trying to find a movie to watch tonight, anyone see any of these?

There is also the Shirley Jackson book We have always lived in a Castle on Netflix. The book didn't do much for me, but the movie looks decent. I don't think I could get the wife to go along with The Devils. Maybe Cat People? Any Halloween related suggestions?

The only thing I remember about Ladybugs is that the first scene in the movie following it on HBO had the first pair of boobs I ever saw.

FWIW We Have Always Lived in a Castle is not a horror movie. More of an eccentric drama.

Have you ever watched "Murder Party"?

Yeah, that's kinda my kind of horror movie haha. Have not watched or heard of murder party. I forgot that I have the uhd of Christine so that may be the one, although I'm really tempted to rent midsommer

Oh, Jeremy saulnier did murder party. That's a go for me. On the list, don't think wife will go for it, but that's definitely a late night solo viewing. Thanks.

Happy to be of service. I did watch We Have Always... It wasn't bad by any means and has some nice performances, but there are literally no horror elements. I probably would have enjoyed it more if I went into it knowing that.

I love Murder Party. It and Blue Ruin are still my favorite Saulnier films. If you watch MP let me know what you think. Apparently it's rather divisive.

I bought Midsommer this week (had some Best Buy coupons) but I'm thinking of saving it for Halloween night.

Went with old trusty Bram Stokers Dracula. That movie checks all the boxes for me. I love everything about it. I would love for FFC to make an Imajica movie in the same spirit as this. Not that it really matters, but how didn't Gary Oldman get nominated for an Oscar?

Definitely still give this one a whirl at some point. Does really great work with mood and atmosphere, whenever you're feeling like watching something in that vein (i.e. does not move at a breakneck pace). One scene was such a delightfully twisted subversion that I still vividly remember it. Also, one of the best acting performances from a cat in any movie. Yes, you read that correctly.

sold. I was looking through movies on Criterion Channel and that one definitely stood out. There was another called the Lure or something like that and it looked like a hardcore mermaid musical? That also intrigued me.

Never heard of that one but just looked it up, and it also looks like an interesting time at the movies as well, haha

Looks like Eggers already has a movie lined up after The Lighthouse. It will be a Viking drama with the Skarsgards and Nicole Kidman

Well, you can't win them all. Looking forward to The Lighthouse regardless.
