Also fun fact from 'Encanto'

All of the Madrigals have some symbol of their gift in their wardrobe, be it fabric pattern, jewelry, what have you. But even tho she herself does not have a magical gift, Mirabel has on her skirt a symbol of all their gifts..... including a jaguar and toucan for Antonio before la Casita reveals his gift.

I've heard about this Bruno character twice now, both today. The first was at lunch and one of the two year olds my wife watches kept telling me something about Bruno, like she was scared, he was bad or something? And now tif. I have no idea what's happening.

We don’t talk about Bruno.

The best part of the song is that Mirabel is using her 'gift' of love for her family to get literally everyone to talk about Bruno in a song called 'We Don't Talk About Bruno'.

It’s a really sweet movie. I don’t 100% understand the hype about that song. It’s not even my favorite from the film.

Same. Surface Pressure has the best lyrics, beat, etc., but I just don’t like the singer.

Same. Surface Pressure, Dos Oruguitas, What Else Can I Do..... shoot, even The Family Madrigal are better imo.

But it's like someone saying Breathe is better than Burn. Whether you agree or not, they are both fantastic songs.

Maybe for the music thread, but LMM has a habit of writing "heroine laments" in 3/4 time. Breathe, Burn, Waiting On A Miracle. Moana doesn't have one cos all those are written in Island Time, brah.

None of these compare to Moana, IMO. Every single song in that movie was terrific.

Yeah Moana has Where You Are, How Far I’ll Go, and Youre Welcome. But it also has Shiny. Woof.

I really like Dinklage as an actor, but he seems like a real miserable sack IRL. Got very bitter and vindictive after GOT ended

That song is just really aggravating to listen to. I guess it's supposed to be?

I really liked Encanto. Bruno is a decent song but it’s far from my favorite in the movie and I also don’t understand the meteoric rise in popularity.

I don't hate Shiny, but the "now it's time to kick your hiny" line is cringe, Disney movie or not.

Bruno is great because its upbeat and has so many voices. It's just 10 times more fun to sing along to than the other Encanto songs. They may be better to listen to, but Bruno is more fun to participate in.

Meanwhile, Surface Pressure is just so obviously a LMM song. That was the moment I knew he'd written the whole thing.

What in the name of BountyGate is Home Team?

Schlocky Sandler production about Sean Payton’s year in exile played for laughs.

Why?

EDIT: corrected name posted during day drinking snow day

Watched Don’t Look Up last night. Movie was about 30 minutes too long and about 30% too over the top. I give it a solid “meh”.
