The Patriot is so good. Schlocky as all hell and the anti-British propaganda is ever-hilarious. It’s one of my favorite rewatches

Oh and the John Williams score is as orgasmic as all his other work

My wife and I are seeing Chazz Palminteri's one man Bronx Tale show tomorrow night. I'm really looking forward to it, huge fan of the source material, Chazz, and I heard the show is incredible.
I considered that but didn’t end up pulling the trigger. Check back in with your thoughts
Incredible show. It was Chazz on stage for 90 minutes. If you've seen Bronx Tale, you know much of the story, but to hear him tell it was just spellbinding. I was definitely misty eyed towards the end. It was just him and a chair on stage, just like when he got "discovered" back in the late 80s by DeNiro.

I've never seen so many Italians in one building. It was hilarious. Older Italian guys coming in dressed to the nines. Totally random, but I was in the very short merch line well before the show and ran into Vic Dibittetto (NY comic made famous by the bread and milk videos a while back). He was in town to see his friend Chazz, I asked him how he likes Amish Country so far and he said he loves the smell of **** in the morning  Asked if I wanted a pic and gladly obliged, don't think anyone else had spotted him yet.

Also, the guy selling merch was also an older Italian guy that had to have been in a $3k suit and shoes to match. He called himself Mickey Blue Eyes. It was a damn blast.

AMT is one of the nicest mid-size venues in the country imo. Performers seem to love coming there.

The new Spielberg film about his parents and youth sounds really good.

Snorting the Paramount Logo is certainly one way to introduce your movie. This looks fun. I wish I loved anything as much as Hollywood loves making movies about Hollywood. And Damien Chazelle really loves LA.

Apparently it's a 3 hour movie with an NC-17 rating. No way that holds, but it looks like fun

Watched Ghost Dog the way of the samurai. My kind of movie. Weird little mob/samurai movie? My daughter came downstairs about 30 minutes in and didn't leave after getting sucked in. I'll be watching it again.

My roommate in college used to watch Ghost Dog every week or so. That movie rules.

Didn't he do a bad neighbor movie where he was a cop that terrorized some white guy/family?

The Woman King gets released tomorrow. It’s about a group of female warriors in the west African tribe of Dahomey fighting off the French

…except it turns out Dahomey, historically, was a pretty villainous kingdom. Like, you know about the tribes that sold slaves to the Americas? Dahomey was one of them

In fact, reading about Dahomey’s history, apparently at one point Britain set up a blockade to stop Dahomey from engaging in the slave trade.

Also in real life the casualties from the conflicts (there were two wars) are horribly one sided. The Dahomey lost 3,000-7,000 troops…the french lost 100…

I’m honestly surprised this movie was made. It feels like a movie that glorifies the Confederacy or something

Promotional consideration for these complaints have been brought to you by: The "morally bankrupt, no-new-stories" guy.

The character Davis plays wants to end her country's involvement with the slave trade. That's her "why she fights" motivation; from what I understand, the opening battle sequence of the movie is her troops liberating captured slaves. Her faction was the inspiration (in part) for the female warriors in the Black Panther comics and movies. (Which is probably the single biggest reason The Woman King was ever greenlit in the first place)

In short: It's a movie, not a documentary.
