The Happytime Murders is not good.

If you saw the red band trailer, you got most of the highlights.

Finally saw Bohemian Rhapsody today.

Extremely good in parts, less so in too many others. But the good stuff honestly gave me goose bumps.

I get why you have to narratively shake up a story that covers three decades to get the important bits to fit in a movie. But it definitely had a movie-by-committee feel. Some things just happen for seemingly no reason other than the script says so, with a lot of events stacking up together*. Musical quibbles in the music thread, eventually.

That said, for all the praise Rami Malek is getting there were multiple times when I was aware of the performance. Conversely, with Brian, Roger, and Deakey I at no point ever felt like I was looking at anyone other than Brian, Roger, and Deakey. Like, "Where did they find all this well lit and we'll shot archival footage Queen that they rotoscoped Malek into?" It was a little unnerving at times.

*
"How lucky was it that Freddie went to that Smile show the night the singer/bass player quit, and that he got to meet the actual love his life 90 seconds before meeting Brian and Roger. Three of the four most important people he ever met.... right there! And then, "How many loose ends can I resolve the morning of Live Aid? I can track down *the* Jim Hutton after all these years of trying: I can introduce him to my family, and get a hug from my dad after telling him about my good thoughts/words/deeds, and tell my mom I love her; I can make peace with Mary making babies with other people." It was like the last episode of Breaking Bad.

The favourite is a trip.

Not sure I’d recommend it to anyone. I liked the lobster but didn’t like the sacred deer movie. This was somewhere in between. The first 40 minutes or so are good, then the last 40 are a huge drag

Rented A Christmas Story 2. Was worth the $2. Daniel Stern direct to video ftw.

Looking forward to it simply because of the discussions I had in my head after watching his other movies. I don't think I even liked them, but they did something to my brain.

I didn't know they made another one, but Daniel Stern certainly has me intrigued. I'm still reeling from Gremlins 2 and how he went from the burbs to that. What a back to back punch. You'll also here a sample of the burbs music in Gremlins 2 which sounds about right with Jerry Goldsmith doing both of those.

Whoa... Christmas Story 2 came out six years ago. That is somehow... Way more recent than I was expecting that to me made

I enjoyed Stern reintroducing his Brickma character recently.

Yeah, that is essentially the same thoughts I have. This story is a bit more straight forward, but not less weird

For whatever reason, the trailers to his movies always make me want to see them, then I'm like what the **** did I just watch (again)?

Watched It Happened on Fifth Avenue and was pleasantly surprised how much the kids enjoyed it as well. Also watched The Man Who Invented Christmas on Prime and it was pretty good. Maybe more interesting than good, but it made me want to read the book.

We've been working our way through the yearly Christmas movies. So far we've watched Elf, Christmas Vacation, How The Grinch Stole Christmas (not the Jim Carey nonsense), Charlie Brown, Pee-Wee's Christmas Special, and Die Hard. Next up is either Love Actually or Muppet Christmas Carol.

How the **** is Bumblebee at 98% on RT after 45 reviews? There's only one negative review and the average rating is 7.5/10. Is it as simple as removing Bay from the director's chair?

they replaced him with someone who knows how to tell a story for kids and adults, so I'm sure that's a big plus. Until you said something, I would have had zero interest in it, but now after reading some things, I've perked up. A lot of those reviews said they finally got what you liked about the original cartoon right.

I too had zero interest until seeing the reviews.

John Cena is in it? I have a tough time watching that guy act, he's too big of a human for my brain to process he should be in anything talking with other people.

It's also pretty tough since he's mostly invisible.

The review I saw for Bumblebee said it was by far the best Transformers movie since the first but... It's basically the exact plot of ET.
