Hence why Die Hard is not an Xmas movie
Name a story device that:

- Gets all Nakatomi employees (including Chairman Takagi) in one place;
- creates an otherwise empty office building with lax security;
- entices an estranged husband to fly across the country to reunite with his family;
- accomplishes all of the above simultaneously

Die Hard 2 is not a Christmas movie. Lethal Weapon is not a Christmas movie. First Blood is not a Christmas movie. In each of those movies Christmas is, if you'll pardon the phrase, ornamental. It provides pretty background lights.

Die Hard has to take place at Christmas.

If it brings joy and yule tidings to you and yours during the Christmas season, then by all means enjoy it as a Christmas movie. I look forward to snuggling under blankets with a hot cup of cocoa with the twinkle lights on enjoying The Last Boy Scout on the big screen.

Christmas spirit is more important than Christmas guidelines.

When you couch it like that, I guess who among us is not warmed by the yule tidings of watching a cop get impaled on a punji stick tiger gate, before watching a combat vet and POW have a complete PTSD meltdown after bringing economic ruin on to a small town in the PNW over a vagrancy dispute that escalated to police brutality. I mean glory to the newborn king, amirite.

The beginning of Last Boy Scout... The fact that the player is Billy Blanks is one of my favorite pieces of movie trivia.

watched Remember the Night. I'm a big fan of Barbara Stanwyck, but this one was all over the place as far as drama and comedy. I'll stick with Christmas in Connecticut for my Babs and Christmas needs.

Infinity war part 2 trailer pushed back from tomorrow because of the Bush funeral? That seems strange.

I think it's just a show of respect, and not wanting to overshadow Bush's memorial service. Of course, the converse also applies.

The converse? Bush should have been more thoughtful when he died so it wouldn't interfere with the IW2 trailer?

Exactly :lol:

Damn it you know what I meant. It's a win-win for them...show of respect, and they won't have their trailer going up against a major news story.

With awards season right around the corner, I'm seeing Black Panther pop up on a lot of lists. I liked the movie, but Infintiy War was the better movie, right?

If you're Disney, it's far easier to make a political (in the sense of the Oscar committee) push for Black Panther than it is for Infinity War. There are positive story lines from a racial perspective that you can package into the Oscar push, that could help overcome the historical bias against those kinds of films. Dovetails nicely with the #OscarsSoWhite stuff.

Doesn't it seem that Black Panther was out years ago?

Yep. I could have sworn my kids got it on DVD last Christmas, not this summer.

Let’s not pretend like Oscars are given out to the best movies. They are, however, often given to the most important movies of the year. Obviously you can see how Black Panther was an important movie.
