Looks like a great time. Portman as Thor doesn't bother me as long as it's something that makes sense from a story perspective and explanation (I don't read the comics to know why it occurred there). Also, Hemsworth is juiced to the gills. Dude could be an IFBB pro.
This too looks like a blast

My wife loves Bob's Burgers and wants to see the movie. Latrobe now has one of those movie theaters where you order food and eat during the movie. We're going to try that out. She'll be able to eat a burger while watching her burger movie. America can still be great at times.

The missus and I are planning a date night for that, too. I might also pursue that idea.

Will do. My Mom likes it but says it's expensive. For two adults w/the dinner package it's $53 on Fandango. Comes with unlimited soda, unlimited popcorn, and the dinner w/side. Per person it's $9 for the movie, $16 for the food and $1.50 to Fandango as a service fee. That seems reasonable to me.
They also own a theater in Johnstown with the same setup.

I don't think I'd enjoy trying to watch a movie while the person next to me eats a whole ass dinner.

Yeah, I couldn't do it every time. But for a cartoon movie about a burger restaurant, I think it works.

Yeah that's true. I honestly hate the theater experience but having a private area with a nice table and a meal sounds alright. I just wouldn't want to be the person sitting next to the person having a nice meal.

My best friend and I invented Arclight/Alamo Drafthouse in the 90s. Of course, we get no credit for it, because we were the only two people who ever knew about it at the time. But still. Anyway, a key component of our concept was that the dinner part was done ahead of the movie and separate from the theater in a different space. There was a place in Hollywood in the early 00s that was sort of a dinner theater experience; like the movie theater was a full on restaurant dining room that did full service during the show. I'd never want to see a movie for the first time in an environment like that, but it was cool to go see something for the 3rd or 19th time there, especially if there was a Q&A with the filmmakers afterward.I don't think I'd enjoy trying to watch a movie while the person next to me eats a whole ass dinner.
That said, in a theater I'm a hotdog sando guy once I take my seat. But that's usually gone by the end of the second trailer.

You invented eating at one place then moving to another to watch a movie?

They're the same place, just different parts of the place. Like at home, you eat dinner in your dining room and then movie to the living room to watch a movie.

So what's 5AF verdict on Maverick? The reviews from Czech viewers are all over the place...

I've seen Top Gun like six times, including two or three weeks ago...that movie stinks...
Nothing happens at all in the movie...there's no plot.
Butt buddies: "Wooooo! Who likes flying planes in a sort of dangerous way?!?! We doooooo!" *slap hands*
Old by-the-book curmudgeon: "God damn it! Stop flying planes sort of dangerously!"
Dumb ****** loser/teacher's pet frat boy Val Kilmer: "Yeah, buttheads...your heads are where your butts oughta be! Boom, face!"
[nothing]
Butt buddies: "Wanna grease each other up and play beach volleyball? Sure, but can I wear blue jeans...? Ya know, on account of being any sport or mildly athletic activity. Blue jeans!
Sure!" *slap hands*
[volleyball montage]
[nothing]
Butt buddy #2 dies for no reason -- no one cares, but look at how tough it is on Butt buddy #1, his butt hurts.
[nothing]
Old by-the-book curmudgeon: "All right maggots, we're going to war!"
- Against who?
"There's no time...start flying sort of dangerously, it's the only way to...win the war/avenge your butt brethren/free yourself from daddy issues. Go! Go! Go!"
General cast: "Butt buddy, you're the best pilot! ...until the next class, where in 7 weeks, there will be someone just as good as you. Goodbye for now."
It ****** stinks. Nothing happens. There's no conflict. There's no characters to root for or characters in general. It's a bucket of nothing...

Found the Goose fan.
Loved that Goose's family doesn't show up until 5 minutes before he is killed.

Yeah, that little keys in a bowl dumb **** that they did at that diner.
"Oh come here friend's girlfriend, let me jam a handful of french fries in your pooper...tee hee tee hee" cool, whatever...the movie is for smacked asses that like to try to lick ketchup off their own dongs...
I'd rather watch Al Gore eat dinner (probably peas, only peas...with a fork...to pick up individual peas) during the whole "dinner and a movie" concept that tif apparently invented in 1993 or whatever...than watch that garbage dump nothing movie again...

Do you consider Days of Thunder the better film?

Never seen it, but based on the movie poster, I can only assume it's the exact same film except Cruise drives a car sort of dangerously...

Days of Thunder is based on a real driver from the 80s. A guy who I think you would have actually enjoyed a great deal. Until he died of AIDS, anyway.Never seen it, but based on the movie poster, I can only assume it's the exact same film except Cruise drives a car sort of dangerously...
