Can any Tom Hanks flick really be given the title “guilty pleasure”, though?
if you enjoy joe vs the volcano, what would you call it?

I did enjoy it, and I would call it a good movie, because that’s what it is.

The word pedantic was invented with Tom Hanks in mind.
What a hack.

Spielberg has only made 5 interesting movies. Tom Hanks is a pedantic hack.

And yet we are piling on shmenguin for the Curtis Martin take.

Tom Hanks is the Toto (the hand) of acting. It’s hard to imagine someone more dreadfully bland and lacking artistry.

I don’t do Denzel Washington (who’s also terrible), so no.

I walk the streets of it every day, my friend. It reeks of urine.

The list of real-life people Hanks has portrayed is an impressive CV in its own right.

Jim Lovell, Charlie Wilson, Roy Kellerman, James Donovan, Richard Phillips, Chesley Sullenberger, Ben Bradlee (was tempted to include Carl Hanratty, who was based on a real FBI agent. But then that would open the door to characters like Jimmy Dugan, and would require me to do some actual research to find others like that, and I don't want to do work for this)

Oh man. Catch Me If You Can. Another I'll watch anytime it's on. Tom Hanks is pretty much just the best.

Only thing I can figure is that shmenguin is getting all the attention and columbia is jealous; he is acting out, don't encourage him.

Hell yes.
Say it every time in here, but when we crossed paths with his family in Vegas and shouted hey Tom, loved you in the burbs, his wife lost it. I don't think he gets told that often.

There's an active community who celebrates burbs day on the 2nd Saturday of July and it gets pretty intense.

He’s an artless actor.

Let’s be real: this is about aesthetics and taste. The populace rarely has any, so pointing out that someone is popular doesn’t achieve anything.
