The new Paul Thomas Anderson movie was shooting in my neighborhood today. It's a period piece set in the early 70s, and they had 3 blocks worth of businesses dressed like it was 1972, a couple dozen period cars, and a funky-ass wardrobe truck. It was by far the largest crew I've ever seen, prod trucks, background extras, craft services, trailers, gaffers, the footprint was something like 12 city blocks. It was nuts.

Did you grab some food off craft services?

Watched the preview last night and I'm sold. I think the wife and I looked at each other at the same time and I said yep as she said nope.

That’s Charlie Kaufman right? If so, “different” is a solid adjective for him.

Watched the preview. That was enough for me.

Good Fat Damon sighting, though.

Watched speed racer for the first time. That movie is crazy. Completely blown away with the story and visuals. That is a heavy PG movie that all kids should be watching. Awesome stuff.

This might be the strangest film story I've read in a long time...

How could WB possibly think that was a good idea?

Oh, and by the way, remember that floating cinemas thing that was coming to Pittsburgh? Yeah, that was bullshit.

‘Floating Cinema’ passing on Pittsburgh; company blames covid
https://triblive.com/local/floating-cin ... -pandemic/
Officials with the Pittsburgh Special Events department and the U.S. Coast Guard’s Pittsburgh auxiliary unit said they tried, but were never able to contact the organizers, a company called Beyond Cinema.

“We’ve received no further information,” Coast Guard Executive Officer Steve Miros said Monday. “We reached out.”

In order for such an event to be held on the Allegheny, Monongahela or Ohio Rivers, the company would need to get a permit from the Coast Guard, Niros said.

If public property was needed to screen the movie, the city would have been involved, Pittsburgh Special Events Manager Brian Katze said.

“The city never received any contact from the company who was responsible for the event,” Katze said.

Yeah. I read that yesterday. None of the 'planned' cities ever heard from the company.

They got their clicks, though.

That is super weird. Also, Ray Fisher is a whiny piss baby who threw any chance of a continued film career down the drain because he was upset that his script suggestions weren’t being taken into consideration during Justice League reshoots.

That is utterly bizarre. That said, I hadn't even heard about this rumored movie and at first I thought it this long diatribe was about the old movie with Burl Ives, and was really confused.

Jack Reacher is such a guilty pleasure movie for me (though is it really a guilty pleasure if I consider it good?). Burgh porn, Cruise being awesome despite his tininess, an easy to solve mystery, a random Robert Duvall appearance, Werner Herzog spending time away from his travel podcast, awesome car cash scene, and Rosamund Pike being absolute fire plus the addition of her gigantic pregnancy boobs. Great background noise movie with the random eye catching distraction.

It's still open, just not the exact same. I know someone who was there a few weeks ago and they got beat up pretty bad on the slides

Just finished watching that. Evidently, it was too crazy for Trump to invest in back in the day.

But yikes...what a time to be alive.
