Cool, I'm gonna go see it - I'll refrain from reading the story until after watching the movie.

Putting this here even though it's Netflix.....

Triple Frontier looks like DLC for Ghost Recon: Wildlands. I'm in.

Fiiinally got around to Ant-Man and The Wasp. Really enjoyable experience. Better than the first IMO.

I am 100% on board with the notion that anything can be funny in the hands of a talented comedian. Which is what makes Kevin Hart so troubling, generally.

I was in line behind him at Jersey Mike's a couple years ago. Can confirm he cannot ride the grown up rides.
I can take him in small doses, and occasionally an entire movie, but not much more. I want to say that he was okay in Jumanji?
He was good in Jumanji. He can be quite solid in supporting roles, but I'm not a fan when he has to run the show. Which is why I'm not too bent up about the Oscars thing, as he doesn't strike me as someone who would succeed in that type of situation. When he's on, he's like the sprinkles on a bowl of ice cream. You wouldn't want a whole bowl of just sprinkles though.

As long as they keep using a derivative of the original Gojira roar, I invite them to continue making new kaiju movies.

And, if you'll allow me to be old for one moment...WHY IS EVERYTHING SO DAMN DARK?!?!
Because CG is expensive.

watched a movie called Juliet, Naked yesterday. It is not about a girl named Juliet being naked. it stars ethan hawke, rose byrne and chris dowd. its about a musician from the 90s (ethan hawke) who had a hit album named juliet and then suddenly disappeared in between sets at a gig. chris dowd has a fan-blog site about his wear abouts and his gf (rose bryne) hates the music. i would call it a comedy: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/juliet_naked/

You won't regret it, watching and hearing my kids belly laugh to that movie was pure delight. Everything was just perfect for those 2 hours. All the memories and emotions of me being a kid with it was just overflowing. I look forward to it every year.

Watched this yesterday; while some of the diagnosis were a little far fetched I was laughing out loud by the end:

'Jurassic Park,' 'The Shining,' 'Brokeback Mountain', and 'Rebecca' Enter the National Film Registry, Deeming them Culturally, Historically or Aesthetically Significant

Jurassic Park was the first movie I ever saw multiple times in the theater, and to this day, I never pass up an opportunity to watch it when it's on TV. Two scenes that stand out above the rest for me:

The suspense of the T-Rex escape:

Enter the Brachiosaurus:

I love JP, but I'm still never going to forgive them for the continuity error of the mystery chasm in the T-rex paddock.

The book specifically states that each dinosaur enclosure is surrounded by a huge cement moat to keep the dinos away from the fence. The movie's world is a bit different and the moats run perpendicular to the fence to create a divide within the enclosure, as seen here: http://jurassicpark.wikia.com/wiki/Jura ... 1_1280.jpg

My guess is that diagram was created as a way to excuse the goof because in reality that doesn't make much sense. Spielberg knew what worked best for the movie and didn't give a **** about continuity.

I very much agree with that last bit. He said as much when somone tried to explain that SCUBA tanks won't explode if you shoot them on Jaws. "If I've done my job to that point, the audience won't care. If they do care, we've got bigger problems on our hands." (Or something to that effect.)

The moat thing didn't occur to me for quite some time after - I think it was my fifth or sixth time seeing the movie with friends at the second run theater on The Diamond in Hollidaysburg.

But I don't think that diagram is accurate. Doesn't Rexy send the truck out through the same opening in the fence it entered the road through? That's why it's a continuity error. It also suggests the whole reason for the moats is negated by having a portion on the paddock - the bit where do the public feedings, no less - at the same level as the road.

From IMDB
A close-up of the amber head of John Hammond's cane (as he rotates it in the control room, during the scene when Nedry leaves to steal the embryos) shows an internal vertical reflective plane, indicating that the "amber" is actually an acrylic casting poured in at least 2 steps.
