Watched Pig last night based on @mikey highest recommendation. I knew nothing about this sweet little melancholy movie going in and that's definitely the way to see it haha. Wife and I laughed a lot because anytime we thought something was going to happen, something weirder happened that made me say WTF is happening a lot. I kinda loved it. I think Cage did a really terrific job quietly walking around emotionally destroying people. Hope he gets nominations from this just because I want to hear him talk more like in the roundtable I posted yesterday.

For better or worse, I also think every possible movie genre is covered in Pig.

I know I'm super late to this, but Ready Player One is bad.

Yeah, just like the book. I will say both were pretty fun though. That race was pretty cool.

RPO, the movie, is one of those that I put on just to enjoy the scenery. Similar to Speed Racer.
I didn't hate the book when I read it years ago but I can understand the criticism. Somehow he parlayed it into more terrible books.

I doubt spoilers are needed for a 4 year old film but...
That race... I can't believe nobody thought to go backwards in 5 **** years.

The pop culture references are fun at first but it quickly becomes meaningless. The worst part of the movie is Tye Sheridan. He's an absolute black hole of charisma. Which made him a perfect Scott Summers though.

My wife was watching it one afternoon when I walked into the room. I only saw about 10 minutes of it, but it did not look good at all.

Speed racer is nuts. That's a movie that needs a proper 4k release

Yup. I bought it on Google Play so I can pull it up and randomly start it at any point and have a good time.

It was a pale comparison to the book. So many great 80s references in the book that for licensing or other reasons didn’t make it to the movie. I enjoyed the book but dislike the movie.

I really enjoyed RPO the first and only time I read it, but the cultural references got old quickly. I got fifty pages into Armada and closed the book.

Did you keep thinking it was going to go a different way? Hell, it even got a little dusty or something when I was watching

Absolutely. I never predicted a single plot twist, ha. And yeah, it must have been dusty in here too. Definitely hit me in the feels.

The Harry Potter reunion on HBO Max was great. Easily the best one they've done. Delved into some behind the scenes stuff and making of the movies. The first two movies, before the major tonal change and streamlining of the story adaptations, are easily my least favorite in the series but there was something touching about seeing how fantastic Chris Columbus was directing all of these little kids. Dude did a hell of a job.

Yep, that was a definite WTF moment.

I think my favorite part was when he absolutely destroyed the former employee who'd wanted to open a pub and instead opened a ridiculously fancy restaurant. So well acted.

Matrix Resurrections - meh, borderline bad. Tried to be way too meta, didn’t even make sense that they had to find “the one” again. Whatevs.

The French Dispatch is the least of all Wes Anderson films.

It's akin to watching a dog proudly lick it's own dadhole for 90 minutes.
