The new Halloween flick (Halloween Kills - what a terrible, terrible title) will premiere on Peacock on Oct 15.

I haven't been to a theatre since Feb 2020 and I'll admit, I don't miss it at all. Thus, this news makes me very happy.
Great news. I'll see it in the theater and a few more times at home. The initial reviews are fantastic. Either people loved how gory and full of kills it is or they hated it because it "felt like an 80s slasher sequel". Both are right up my alley.

Admit it, you're still playing with it.
Actually it's still in the same box it was packed into when we moved to SF 5 years ago. lol

But before that, yes.

Malignant. The new James Wan movie. Terrible. Absolutely terrible. There's a really good "fight" scene in the last 20 minutes that's pretty cool.but other than that a waste of time.

I wish I hadn't heard it was a giallo. I would have enjoyed it more without those expectations. It reminded me of a mid 90s horror flick. Not awful but not great.

Yeah WTF is up with all the giallo talk? Personally, and flame me for this if you like, I really dislike giallo. Argento, Fulci, Bava, Lenzi, Martino; all of these guys are/were masters of their craft but it's just a genre I've never really understood.

I like some of them (Deep Red and Torso are my favorites, but it's not a genre I actively seek out. I suppose Malignant had a few Argento-esque touches in the lighting, but I didn't see much beyond that.

Overall, I was surprised how cheap the film looked/seemed. It seems like a deliberate choice, but I didn't get it. Like I said, it reminded me of mid 90s schlock.

Torso is in my queue and I actually did enjoy Deep Red. I think that one had superior acting and writing than most giallo. The story held me really well. I hear Torso is just ridiculous Italian gore and sleaze.

Teri Hatcher is by no means an unattractive woman, but I never quite understood the hype. And ordinarily she'd be right up my alley (hey-ooo!) type-wise.

I need to issue an apology to Jurassic World for calling it dumb. Fallen Kingdom showed me that I had no idea how dumb a Jurassic Park movie could be. It's not even worth reviewing. It's absolute ****. I don't even want Dominion to happen now.

Jurassic Park

Lost World
Jurassic World

Jurassic Park 3

Fallen Kingdom

Way back then I watched an interview with her. She was sexually assaulted at a young age and didn't enjoy physical intimacy as an adult. That kind of turned me off to her because I felt bad.
Plus, Yasmine Bleeth was my number one anyway.

Sweet Girl, on Netflix, was pretty dumb. It was, however, filmed in Pittsburgh in late 2019 early 2020. Used the city fairly well, and I enjoyed the father-daughter team of Khal Drogo/Aquaman and Live-Action Dora the Explorer. Lots of plot holes, and silliness. Like why are people in PNC Park in the winter? Probably because Nutting was cheaper than the Rooneys for renting out the place.

My cousin worked on that and was talking about how there was issues with the original actress and they had to change some stuff and then she didn't end up doing it and it was quite the mess. He was also telling us that during jack reacher filming, Tom cruise would spend $1000 on his crew everyday and put them up in a tent with food/drinks. Said he was one of the nicest guys he's worked with.

Yeah, it wasn't what I thought it would be. Gotta admit, though - the twist at the end got me.

The group of friends I ran with when I first moved to CA were largely all Paramount Home Entertainment people. The brother of one of them came to the lot to have lunch with his sister one day, and he was sitting on a bench waiting for her to come downstairs. A gentleman approached and asked if he minded if he joined him on the bench. That gentleman was Francis Ford Coppola, and he had a nice 10-minute conversation with the brother, and when the sister joined them they spoke a few minutes more.

Months later, same scenario. Brother sitting on the bench waiting for sister. Schmuck 2.0 approaches and says "Mr Cruise is approaching, please do not look at or address him." Tom Cruise and entourage pass by in silence moments later.

April 2004, Grand Prix of Long Beach. I'm there in a quasi-official role with the title sponsor of one of Paul Newman's cars. Tommy 2 Bags is sitting on a motorcycle outside the Newman/Haas hospitality area. My group is introduced to him; we shake hands, and as we separate he drags his finger down the length of my palm. 15 seconds later, I met Paul McCartney, so it was okay.
