Not that I expected to see it in running for best picture by any means, but Infinity War was significantly better than Black Panther imho.

BP is good, but eh... Quite a stretch to be listed for BP.

Insert that's racist dot gif

This was brought up before. The Academy Awards often recognize important films, not necessarily the "best" films. No matter your feelings on it, Black Panther was an important film.

Heard the Spiderman movie might be the best one they've made yet.

Now here's where the that's racist dot gif should be inserted.

No. They are completely different movies, different genres, different themes, and more importantly completely different box office results. Black Panther isn't important just because it's a black cast.

eh, didn't mean for it to come across like that. I liked BP a lot, but I don't think it should be up there. There were plenty of other movies that had something to say that were both important and better than that movie. oh well

At least they made the correct decision in giving infinity war the nom in visuals over BP. The last 20 minutes of BP were pretty bad.

I get it. I'm happy to see it get the nom, but I'm also just happy that a few movies that people actually went to see got Best Picture noms.

To the best of my knowledge no film has won Best Picture and Best Foreign Film in the same year. I expect that to continue.

Academy Awards:
Best Picture:
“Black Panther”
“BlacKkKlansman”
“Bohemian Rhapsody”
“The Favourite”
“Green Book”
“Roma”
“A Star Is Born”
“Vice”
I've only seen 2 of these. Plan to see 2 of the others when they come on Netflix or whatever. By title alone I did not recognize 3 of them. Looking them up I knew of 2 of those 3, leaving 1 that I didn't know.

That's what I'm thinking. No wonder nobody wants to host these 4 hours awards show anymore. Is it so hard to get Annihilation and Paddington 2 added to the best picture list?

I see First Man missing from a lot of lists, I just picked that up to watch tonight. Looking forward to that.

I was a big fan of Whiplash and LaLa Land and am a big fan of Gosling. I'll give it a shot.

From what I understand, it's based heavily on Armstrong's autobiography, or biography. Basically Armstrong isolated himself mentally to an absolutely unimaginable extent after the death of his young daughter. Seems like he was quite the genius and devoted his entire attention to the moon project, it turns the moon project into a 9-5, so your basically just following this guy around during his day to day while he basically never talks to anyone.

Sounds like the first hour of Roma before I turned it off.

back to BP, if they are going to go that route, they really should've put Michael B Jordan in there for supporting to beef up that nom. He was fantastic.

I never expect horror to get any love from major awards shows, but I thought Toni Colette and Hereditary deserved nominations.
