Finally watched Creed 2... Basically a sequel to both Creed and Rocky IV. I did like the fact that they flushed out the Drago back story a bit. Perhaps there could have been a bit more story for Rocky as I believe eddy mentioned earlier in this thread, but at the same time, he is no longer the focus of the movies. At any rate, I enjoyed it.

Not sure where they could go from here, but if they keep making them, I'll keep watching em.
Rock was the emotional heartbeat in the first Creed, he tied all the feels together and that made it a better movie. That wasn't in the second Creed, which is fine, there was a different theme off father's that I think they went for, it just seemed odd to make Creed's opponent likeable in a sense. It was a different dynamic for sure, but it was weird cheering for Creed when I felt bad for who he was fighting.

I liked the movie, just couldn't capture how good the first one was (much like the Rocky franchise)

Why was a desperate thread needed
The same reason we have a dedicated Star Wars thread. It's its own thing with ongoing topic-centered discussion that otherwise pollutes the generalized thread.

pollutes the "movie" thread?

there's a good reason to have the marvel thread and that's so people have a place to go for marvel talk and don't have to sort through every movie comment. the only people that should get upset if people post marvel talk in the movie thread are people that don't want to miss marvel talk. not people that don't want to see marvel talk in the movie thread

From now on all Marvel MOVIE talk should be in this thread. You comic nerds can have your separate thread

There are around 20 MCU movies, with 10 more in development. Use your own thread.

People that watch marvel movies are comic nerds.

Weird that the Walking Dead crowd can handle it but the super hero folks struggle.

Nah, probably not that weird.

Watched the Godzilla movie from a few years back. Pretty bold choice not making this a Godzilla movie until about 70 minutes in. The first half isn't bad, but doesn't work when you are trying to get your 7 and 9 year old pumped up for a monster movie.

The newest trailer for the new one looks really good. Ghidorah's animation looks fantastic.

You wouldn't think a movie poster could be so insufferable; but, here we are.

I believe this was already known, but it's been confirmed that the Suicide Squad sequel is a total reboot and not called Suicide Squad 2.

DC/WB is a **** mess.

I saw a trailer for Paddleton, a Netflix film written by the Duplass brothers and starring Ray Romano. I thought it would be a quirky comedy, but it was quite a bit darker than that. I'm still thinking about it a day later, which is rare these days. Good counterpoint to After Life, also on Netflix.
Watched Paddleton this weekend. Was really, really good. Ray Romano was just excellent in it. I'm still thinking about it too.

The movie's attempt to make me give two shits of sympathy about Drago and his son didn't work for me.

We went to Sonoma for our anniversary a few weeks after we moved to SF, and I watched this in our hotel room. Nothing sets you up for success quite like watching your new hometown getting rooted by giant monsters. I especially liked watching the Golden Gate Bridge getting effed up, as we would be driving across it like twelve hours later. Woohoo.

Warner Bros studio boss Kevin Tsujihara is out, in the wake of the Hollywood Reporter's expose about his relationship with a young actress.

Went to NYC the week between Christmas and New Years 2008/2009, via train, the Pennsylvanian. Took a bunch DVDs (including 2 from Netflix) to watch on the 9 hour train ride each way. On the way home I watched "The Happening" in which they fled from Philly on a train, the Pennsylvanian. That was a little weird.
