I enjoyed Roma. The first half was a bit of a slog to get through, but as I settled into the movie I began to enjoy it more. I thought the film was beautifully shot and Cleo's story parallels close enough to the life story of my wife's grandmother's housekeeper that it's easy for me to empathize with.

With that being said, as much as I love Mexico, Mexico City, and enjoyed eating wild boar tacos in Colonia Roma a week and a half ago, I don't think I would put it that high on my best films list.
Agree with the cinematography, did it pick up or have a plot after the first hour?

Regarding beautifully shot movies, Buster Scruggs is a doozy and I quite enjoy the movie.

Things happened. There was significantly less penis in the second hour. Honestly, knowing the life of live-in maids in Mexico, a slow, seemingly plotless movie is a pretty accurate representation of her life. Beloved, but paid to be part of a family while having limited freedoms and doing all the grunt work in the background of their lives.

Damn, just saw RT. You can always count on M Night to leave you really disappointed.

I'd take that with a grain of salt. Critics shat all over the Orville for its first season, while it had an audience score of 94%.

Unbreakable got like a 70% and Split an 80%. His movies have been well-reviewed before.

‘Glass’ Review: M. Night Shyamalan’s Grounded Superhero Movie Is the Biggest Disappointment of His Career

M. Night Shyamalan's would-be victory lap is a boring slog that proves the director of "Unbreakable" and "The Sixth Sense" is gone for good.

Ah well. Shame he couldn't tie it up nicely.

That's really saying something. M. Night has put out some gigantic turds.

The biggest disappointment of M Night's career has been that 20 years on he's still regarded as 'important'.

1 really good movie

1 pretty good movie

15 years of awful movies

I'm assuming the "really good" movie is The Happening, right? I mean, obviously.

The Sixth Sense wouldn't have worked as well today. Twitter etc. would have ruined the **** out of the film.

The Happening gets an upvote because of the evergreen nature of the Mark Whalberg reaction gif.

I think the second trailer would've ruined the twist.

I liked Signs. *shrug*

Sixth Sense was spoiled for me so I ended up watching it for the first time about a year ago.

I enjoyed Signs too. I think it's his best film by a country mile.

Signs is okay but it's hurt by a really contrived and convenient "twist" and M. Night giving himself a way too big and important acting role when the dude can't act for ****.

Signs was a really good movie right up to the final 8 minutes or so.

It's not as big a fall off as the climax to that Scorsese movie that ends in a comedy montage of people opening doors and getting shot in the face before an actual rat runs across the balcony, but it's in the same neighborhood.
