i prefer redux when rewatching apocalypse now
How's come? I go back and forth and it seems like whatever version I watch that time, I end up saying, yeah I like this one.

Hah funny question since I wondered the same thing. I think it's just more is better in that world. I love most of the extra stuff including the french stuff except the terrible jcvd quality romance scene music

This is a nice watch. Directed by Zach Woods.

I enjoy Will Ferrell in more dramatic roles, although this has some good comedic elements too.

I'm generally not a fan of old war movies, etc., but 1917 was outstanding. Same goes for Dunkirk.

Yea I was gonna mention Dunkirk too. It’s so well done. Plus Tom Hardy is amazing despite not saying more than a few sentences

Both films were excellent, but the Dunkirk beach scenes seemed empty...like the beaches were filled with troops, equipment, vehicles...but there were like a few rows of soldiers lined up perfectly in pristine sand. Atonement has a more realistic Dunkirk beach scene fwiw.

I am fully certain Baldwin will eventually claim the role of victim on this.
I am not watching his ABC special but let the idea that he is given an ABC special to talk about himself for an hour sink in.

I'm going to pass on watching that one. Matrix 4 is enough of a selling point. I'd rather go in like I went into the first Matrix, not knowing much, if anything, about it.

In an effort to sway your opinion, I hence commend the 1949 William Wellman film "Battleground". It is set during the Battle of the Bulge and follows the troops of the 101st Abn. In terms of the mechanics of film making - camera placement and movement, editing, etc - it is about 10-15 years ahead of its time.

I second Tif’s suggestion. Don’t let the release date scare you off from Battleground. Obviously, it’s not graphic or particularly gritty, but a really well made film.

:thumb: this one definitely showed more of the plot and it was also the best trailer, it looks awesome

Sure is. Wellman is also a good name to remember in movie trivia as he directed the very first Best Picture winner, Wings (1927)

Battleground also featured a very young Brooks Hatten :)

Another fun fact for your trivia banks: Lucasfilm THX trailers are named after Best Picture winners. This one - the OG sound lord - is Wings.

Power of the Dog.
Not sure yet it deserves all the critical praise of best movie of the year, etc. But it's not far off either. Just all facets, story/cinematography/acting/score are expertly put together to create an engrossing experience that slowly sucks you in and will keep you thinking about it long after it's over. Streaming on Netflix.
