Planes, Trains and Automobiles always gets me at the end. We never deserved John Candy.
My favorite holiday movie by far.

It was never released.

Incredible. It’s amazing how well the movie works despite more than half of it being cut. I would love The see the full thing. Oddly enough, when watching today my wife asked how they went from 100 miles from Chicago when the car caught on fire to 3 hours from Chicago when in the back of the milk truck. Now I know.

Man, I really wish we'd get the full cut now. That coffee scene alone would have been perfect in what we have today.

As said in that video, it really speaks to Candy’s great and lovable performance that we get the full picture of Dell despite so much of his performance being cut. I would love to see the full thing just to have more of him.

I also never realized that the music from the John Candy tribute that Ryan Reynolds posted/made was the ending music in Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

Terminator: Dark Fate is certainly something. I love The Terminator and Terminator 2. Two absolutely fantastic movies and I've always wanted a worthy sequel despite the inevitable fact that a sequel to T2 kind of tramples all over what was accomplished in T2. As the numerous parties involved have continually tried to churn more money out of the IP this fact was handled with little regard, as T3 just pushes Judgment Day further into the future, concluding with the worldwide attack by Skynet, and Terminator: Salvation is just a continuation of this storyline. Genisys, which I actually like as a kind of campy action movie, avoids the by playing timeline shenanigans and taking place after The Terminator but makes terrible decisions with John Connor.

This movie takes us back to the "how can we ruin T2" drawing board, leaning heavily and quickly into just obliterating everything we cared about. Even then it's not completely terrible, though it is full of bad decisions, missed opportunities (it's painfully obvious who Major Dean should have been, which would have just enhanced the movie), and for some reason the more advanced the Terminator the less dread I feel for the protagonists. The action pieces are good, if slightly too reminiscent of earlier movies, Arnold is always fun, Linda Hamilton is great in her return, and I'll never be upset with a tiny hot Latina as the main protagonist. At the end of the day though, it just does nothing to enhance or expand the "Terminator Universe" while detracting from the two superior movies that proceeded it. Pretty sure I'll never watch this movie again.

It was the freshest concept movie I’d seen in a long time.

Kevin Pollak tells a funny story about Matthau. He didn't meet him until his first day on the set of Grumpy Old Men, but he revered character actors and here he was not only working with some of the all-time greats, but playing one of their sons. AD takes him over and says, "Mr Matthau, this is Kevin. He's playing your son in the movie." and then he f**ked off to go finish preparing the set for the day's shoot. So to make small talk, Pollak was like, "So the script seems to be in pretty good shape, yeah?" and Matthau - without looking up from reading the daily racing form - says "Kid, the script is s**t. I owe my bookie two million."

That was from the Rich Eisen interview, right? A lot of great anecdotes from there.

I do believe he told it on Eisen's show, but it's sort of a talk show staple of his.

I've only seen the complete film once. I skip the first 5 minutes every time.

My wife and I were in puddles when we first watched that movie with our daughter. Couldn't even keep it together.

Jeremiah Johnson was incredible. Nice to see the overture and Intermission scenes in the movie. I immediately ordered books on the man, can't wait to get into them. Huge hit with the family.

Alien Xmas was very strange, but at 40 minutes,I'm not complaining. It's from the people that did the stop motion in elf, so it was cute seeing some of those characters pop up.

Mr deeds was good. I think I like it better than big daddy. Madison/Gilmore/little Nicky still the best.

Deathly hallows part 1 was good, but it's been so long since I've watched/read that I wish I would've went back to the beginning so I was more invested.

Planes, trains and automobiles was terrific as always. All the emotions in that one.

Introduced kids to die hard. Heard 9 yr old say yippee ki yay **** all weekend in the backyard so success? Daughter absolutely loved it.

Can we talk about the teenaged brain?

I watched Planes, Trains, and Automobiles for the first time in years (well, started it last night. Finish it later today). I know I haven't seen it in 20 years, but I used to watch it a lot when I was in my teens.

I remembered dialogue and scenes almost verbatim, repeating them under my breath in real time. It's quite shocking to me that I remembered that much of it, yet I can't remember dialogue from The Crown which I watched yesterday. Man, the teenage brain is something else. My son does that with song lyrics. Hears something 1-2 times, and has the lyrics down. It's crazy.

I watched P, T, & A for the first time ever last week. It lived up to the hype but it definitely felt choppy to me. You know how you go to the bathroom during a movie and when you return you have to play catch up for a few minutes? There were a few scene transitions where I felt like I missed a sizable chunk of story. The above video certainly helps explain why. It didn't hurt my enjoyment at all, though, which just shows how good it still is despite the cuts.

Mr. Deeds greatly benefits from Winona Ryder looking fantastic.
