We watched Game Night last night. Highly recommend... It was a ton of fun and the dark humor was great. Only about 90 minutes too.

Rewatching Lord of the Rings with my kids for the first time since I saw them in the theater. I picked up the Extended Edition Bluray set a couple of years ago, and it's really good. I haven't seen much that felt extraneous to me (yet, we're halfway through Two Towers). The CGI holds up pretty well, imo.

I love LOTR, but I have to be honest there are parts that don't hold up all that well to me anymore. The digital doubles in Fellowship are rough and show their age, especially when they're running across the bridge of Khazad-dûm. The overuse of slow motion also tends to date the films for me. And some of the dialogue is cringey bad.

I love LOTR. I've watched the extended editions and the appendices way more than I care to admit. The slo-mo drives me crazy though and PJ relied on it way too much.
*Edit*
Also, remember how Gimli gets drunk and talks about big hairy women? Or the weird dwarf tossing stuff? Why would you reference that in LOTR?

Clips from the MTV Movie Awards are all over this morning. Do people like Tiffany Haddish?
She seems like an annoying Leslie Jones to me.
Not a fan.

In a surprising and completely unexpected twist, Adonis dies in ring at the hands of Drago's son. Watching these tragic events live on PPV, Robert Balboa Jr. (a returning Milo Ventimiglia) feels a sudden calling to embrace his true destiny and become the fighter his name destined him to be. He reconciles with his father, the famed heavyweight champion Rocky Balboa, and begins to train as a boxer for the first time in his life. After a long and ardous training camp Rocky feels Robert is finally ready to avenge his dying estranged father's dead best friend's dead illlegitimate kid, but unfortunately the night before the fight Robert dies in a house fire caused by a faulty crockpot while his wife (guest star Mandy Moore) screams for help. Fade to black. Russia wins.

Bloomberg reports that Fox has accepted a $71.3 billion bid from Disney, which tops Comcast’s previous offer of $65 billion. Disney’s new offer “gives Fox shareholders the option to take their payment in the form of cash or stock, up to a 50-50 level”, and the company will also “take on about $13.8 billion of Fox’s net debt”, which brings the total value of the deal to north of $85 billion.

I dislike large corporations getting larger as much as the next guy, but if it's between Comcast or Disney, I'll take Disney every time. Plus, this means we're one step closing to getting a blu-ray release of the Star Wars OT theatrical editions.

This could be amazing:
The original thoroughly creeped me out when I was a kid.Variety reports that Zemeckis, the Oscar-winning director of Back to the Future and Forrest Gump, is in final negotiations to write and direct The Witches for Warner Bros. It will be produced by Oscar-winning directors Alfonso Cuaron (Gravity) and Guillermo del Toro (The Shape of Water). At one point, del Toro was attached to direct, but now will hand those duties to Zemeckis.
If a Witches movie sounds familiar, you know your eye-catching video box art. Warner Bros. first adapted the 1973 Dahl novel in 1990, with Anjelica Huston starring as one of the witches. (A movie that was creepy as hell, by the way.) However, Zemeckis’ take is believed to be more “true to the book,” which is about a young boy who finds himself at odds with several witches who pose as humans.
