Daniel Stern’s scream when Caulkin puts the tarantula on his face is the greatest scream in motion picture history. Just perfection in every way.

WW84 is no bueno or maybe it’s my dislike of Kristen Wiig.

That's a pity. They would not STFU about it all year so the least it could be is good.

I thought Wiig wasn't as bad as she could have been in that role. If they had cut down the overall time of the movie, with some of her scenes in that, it'd have been better. Not enough action overall, though.

Yep, WW84 was not great. Just a weird premise and too long. But 180 minutes of Gal Gadot...

So good. I don't even make it through the opening credits before I'm completely transformed into a kid again. I love that movie so much.

Soul is fantastic. One of Pixar’s best.
Is this in 4k HDR on d+?

Soul was outstanding. Not at all what I was expecting, but so very good. The animation in all the musical performances was fantastic, everything was just perfectly weighted.

I would've bet money Counselor Jerry was voiced by Gal Gadot, but it's apparently some Brazilian chick I've never heard of. Daveed Diggs had like 2 lines.

I finally got around to watching Creed. Good stuff. I am rewarded for my laziness by not having to wait for the sequel.

Also if your wake word for echo is amazon and you watch the first movie within hearing distance, it will play Queen a couple times during the movie.

WW84... Not great, Bob!
Good:
- Gal Gadot is just impossibly attractive. She's great in the role, but she doesn't have to be because god damn she's beautiful.
- Despite the weirdness, Pine was a welcome addition. Wiig was fine and Mando was good as Donald Trump Max Lord.
- I didn't hate it?
- My wife liked it.

Airing of Grievances:
- While I appreciate that Connie Nielsen and Robin Wright are still hot, what the **** was the point of the excessively long Themyscira Ninja Warrior sequence?
- Nerdy chick being jealous of the hottest woman alive, who is unexpectedly (expectedly) nice to her and then saves her from a rapist isn't exactly establishing a friendship.
- Mall sequence was cheesy as ****.
- Steve Trevor inhabiting another person's body, who Diana spent the night taking to pound town, was just weird and unnecessary. None of the other wishes worked that way, so why did hers?
- This movie was somehow excessively long while also not explaining enough. Why is Max's health deteriorating? He can just coerce wishes out of people? Diana only has to quietly say she renounces her wish and doesn't have to be in earshot of Max?
- There's like four action sequences in the movie and none of them are particularly good. CGI ranged from bad to weird. The movie had a particularly issue with physics as Diana just floats around and throws things with no real effort. Yes she's a demi-goddess, but not everything should be effortless.
- Cheetah CGI looked like smashed ass that was thrown together at the last minute. Could have used the last 12 months to maybe touch things up a bit.
- That's your final battle? Two minute fight with Cheetah and the Gal Gadot's perfect face giving a ham-fisted five minute speech?
- No closure with Max Lord or Cheetah?

Overall I didn't hate it, but it certainly wasn't very good. A definite mess of a movie that couldn't decide if it wanted to be an action movie, a comedy, or a make a powerful message of women's empowerment and instead really didn't do any of that, at least not particularly well. Also, this movie was two and a half hours long and somehow legitimately didn't have enough Gal Gadot, especially as Wonder Woman.

It's difficult to know how much to blame the director for, but I certainly don't feel very optimistic about Patty Jenkins directing the next Star Wars movie now.

Pretty much agree there, it's a mess. I enjoy the gods and goddesses aspect to these and wish they'd go more into that

I think that the DCU has simply decided to not even try for good CGI. In both movies and especially in TV.

And Patty Jenkins is working on a third film...

WW84 sounds like it could be good on paper, but was a complete mess. Wonder Woman is only in the movie to fix the problem at the end. The rest of the movie was really about Cheetah, Max Lord, and little bit of Chris Pine. I wanted to like the movie, but just couldn't. Too many stupid things happened even when I try to shut my brain off for it.

This is exactly where I am with it now, especially after DD’s reminders in the previous post. The Chris Pine/other dude’s body thing is now just creepy.

It really feels like not a whole lot of critical thought went into the story. Everyone just patted themselves on the back for their ideas, the studio said “whatever, hot chick equals money”, and then it went through post-production and sat on the shelf for 12 months and somehow no one had their Gob Bleuth “I’ve made a huge mistake” moment.

Like I said, I didn’t hate it. There were some fun parts. I just won’t watch it again anytime soon, or probably ever again, as it just sure as hell just wasn’t good. And that’s a huge problem with the DCU, there’s zero rewatchability in any of these movies outside of Wonder Woman and Shazam. Meanwhile, I spent like 100 hours rewatching every MCU movie in advance of Endgame. If this was an MCU movie it would be Iron Man 2. It wasn’t awful (The Incredible Hulk), it was just a means to an end (money and advancing to the next movie).

I agree with you 100% - especially the rewatchability piece. I will never watch this again.

Watched Uncle Frank over the weekend. What a great movie. Lots of laughs, lots of tears. The ending is a little... I dunno. Too convenient? Too wrapped up with a perfect bow? But overall, I really enjoyed the film.
