Ballad of Buster Scruggs

When I found out it was the Coen's I was really disappointed since I look forward to what they do. And it's amazing that simply from the still on Netflix of the cowboy with the guitar and stupid smile I was able to peg the movie as something I would specifically detest.

But I did not know it was a short story anthology and by the middle I was loving it. From the beginning it's flat out gorgeous. It's surprising and exciting and as rich as literature which often slowed the movie down but I specifically enjoyed.

Overall everything was excellently executed. Just sometimes the tone was right in my wheelhouse and sometimes it was like there was coconut in my cake

At least two of the chapters were just overly drawn out to the point I was clock watching. The ones that were good were really good, though.

Best Motion Picture – Drama
“Black Panther”
“BlacKkKlansman”
“Bohemian Rhapsody”
“If Beale Street Could Talk”
“A Star Is Born”

when you have a musical category, why are these in drama?

They are not musicals, but dramas about music.

Maybe I'm more confused about Bohemian Rhapsody even being nominated for best drama. Seems like there were a lot of other movies out there, but I guess Golden Globes

Look at the list for both categories:
Best Motion Picture – Drama
“Black Panther”
“BlacKkKlansman”
“Bohemian Rhapsody”
“If Beale Streat Could Talk”
“A Star Is Born”

Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy
"Crazy Rich Asians"
"The Favourite"
"Green Book"
"Mary Poppins Returns"
"Vice"
That's a whole lot of "who gives a ****?" going on there.

I'm also appalled that Christmas Chronicles and/or Kurt Russell isn't anywhere to be found. Must be saving it for the Oscars...

Within 24 hours Kevin Hart gets named host of the Oscars. A gay joke he made like 8 years ago gets immediately dug up and he's already stepped down and apologized.

We could all use less Kevin Hart, if I'm being honest.

Saw some of the tweets in question. Offensively unfunny, which is not all that surprising.

Yes, I can appreciate offensive humor, and those tweets were just not funny. I do think about the people that, after announcements like that, go immediately to Twitter and search back through years of tweets.
