Ha, we rewatched Hobbs and Shaw the other night. Not as bad as I remembered it, just dopey fun. And Vanessa Kirby.

Yes on Kirby, but unlike fast and furious, it was just dumb mostly without the fun. I thought a couple times we were going to get there, but for some reason they decided to take it pretty seriously. Rock at the end fighting I'm Samoa with primitive weapons doing that dumb dance when he literally has the most advanced technology at his disposable was it for me.

Thanks for the reminder that this is out now. Despite your review and against my better judgement, I'm going to watch it tonight.
Thoughts?

I went in knowing all of the horrible reviews, the 30% on RT, NTP's recent comments, the Reddit comments completely trashing it, and you know what? All of those were absolutely correct. That movie is dog ****. Everything about it from the writing, directing, acting, action set pieces, etc. is horrible. Something major went wrong in the early phases of development and it just never recovered. A major issue that it couldn't get away from was being forced to follow the storyline set up in Fallen Kingdom. There was one scene that I thought worked really well and was unlike anything we've seen before in Jurassic Park.
Claire being stalked by the feathered dinosaur in the swamp then slowly going underwater to hide. That sequence was tense and the split shot of the dino above water and her underneath was great.
That's the only thing I can point to that actually worked, though. If nothing else, it helped further convince me that Jurassic Park never should've been a franchise.

I agree, that was a cool scene. They just couldn't get away from callbacks, likely because they didn't feel like coming up with new ideas.

That seems fast. This flop isn’t going to do Pixar any favors.

Anyone ever watch the Zatoichi movies? Criterion having a sale and I need to figure out if I should spend $100?

The Halloween Ends trailer is short and sweet and I don't think spoilers much of anything (other than Jamie Lee and Michael are going to fight haha)

I just hope it's better than Kills.

Kills was basically a movie that just kind of treaded water. I enjoyed the amped up violence though and just overall brutal nature, but it's almost a film that didn't have to exist. I didn't hate it, but I thought 2018 was better. Kills has to end this trilogy and arc...so we get some finality at least I would assume.

Yeah. I posted a ranking when it was released but it falls solidly in the middle for me of the pack for me. It's obviously better than some of the lesser films but the plot is too messy and the characters are too stupid for it to beat the others. I think it was more disappointing than others because of how much I enjoyed 2018 and the potential that was there for a sequel.

Actually, here's my original ranking. I stand by it.
Halloween 78
Halloween 2
Halloween 2018
Halloween 4
Halloween H20
Halloween Kills
Halloween III
Halloween 5
Halloween Curse of Michael Myers
Halloween Resurrection

Kills **** sucked. Absolutely horrible. Hated it. 2018 was very very good and then they unleashed that piece of ****.

When you watch all of the Halloween series as a lead up to Kills, you appreciate it a lot more. Middle of the pack still, but when the bottom of the pack is **** Halloween Resurrection, Kills looks like The Godfather.

Yeah as far as the whole franchise goes Kills is solidly in the middle. The bottom movies of the Halloween franchise are really really really really really bad.

Watched Bright Burn, I enjoyed it. For sure has flaws and pacing is some what breakneck but I def enjoyed it.

I don't know anything about it but that poster is great. Nolan is interesting to me. I feel like I should like his films more than I do. His latest films haven't done much for me.

I am interested in Nolan's take on Oppenheimer, a real character in every sense of the word.

I crossed a wire and posted 'James' instead of 'Michael' for some reason but I quickly changed it. :thumb:
