“Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment” is one of the weirdest names for a company ever

we had a cool substitute teacher in our middle school/high school who would read those books in class

Ordinarily wacky names like that in the entertainment industry are for single-purpose entities that are spun up for the sole purpose of running and administering the business side of a production. (Like HR/payroll, most below-the-line transactional legal affairs, etc) So to see one that's an actual functioning diversified business is...... well, stupid.

If they were, you're definitely not the target audience.

just saw Nope. It’s a typical Peele movie where he does some very interesting things; sometimes to a fault where he gets obsessed with ideas and overplays his hand (like the Hands Across America thing in Us)

I think it’s a really well made film. Great acting, cinematography, soundtrack, editing, etc. I think it gets a little tough at points with the dialogue (where I wasn’t exactly sure what the characters were talking about; maybe that was intentional) and the “antagonist” (keeping it vague as not to spoil anything) raised a lot of questions but not the good kind

I think it’s worth a watch if you’re into thrillers, particularly sci fi, but it’s somewhere in between Get Out (liked) and Us (didn’t like). I thought it was intriguing and didn’t go off the rails like Us did but it has some flaws

the more I think about it, the more I believe Jordan Peele is this generations George Lucas. Really interesting ideas but he really needs someone like a co-writer to balance him out. His movies struggle to land the ending

my initial reaction to that is that Shyamalamadingdong is much clunkier than Peele but you might be right. Us is on the same rung as The Happening

I think Get Out still has a sold final act, but the original ending would've been way way stronger.

“I like ‘Crystal Skull’ more than the Sean Connery one,” Tarantino said. “I don’t like the Sean Connery one. I don’t like [that] one at all. … That’s such a boring one. It’s boring! And he’s not an interesting character. The joke is made immediately. It’s like ‘Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot.'”

Just watched Indy 3, that 4k disc is gorgeous. That movie rules. I'm excited to watch Indy 4 with the kids, haven't seen it since the theater. Everytime we get ready to watch, wife says why and changes kids minds. Might not ever see it again. I've been listening to QT on his new podcast. He has a lot of bad takes. I don't know how he became the movie ambassador of everything, but the older I get, the more turned off I am by him. His 10 movie rule or whatever is so dumb, but I haven't been a big fan of his recent releases anyway, so maybe there is some merit to him fading away.

I've defended 4 in here a few times. I don't think it's as bad as its reputation, especially the first 45 minutes or so. It's not anywhere close to the other 3, but there are far worse action/adventure movies.

"The movie is fine, until the plot gets going and the story unfolds."
