I can see that. I had trouble enjoying it though despite it having so many elements I like. Like if there was a popular word cloud describing the movie I'd expect to love it. Including being excited by the 3 actors I knew best. But I thought Cumberbatch was poor at times. Somewhat because of word choice that seemed silly. By the end it was ok but I was disappointed.

I was very excited for 1949 All the Kings Men. Watched it while I let the Steelers game record. It did not meet my expectations but was solid

I’m still not sure if I liked it. It was meandering and I agree that some of the performances felt strangely poor. Dunst has been getting a lot of love but I found her over the top. Jesse Plemons is always great though. I enjoyed the last 30-45 minutes more than the first 90.I can see that. I had trouble enjoying it though despite it having so many elements I like. CODA is such a sweet movie.
I love movie marathon holidays.

Watched Gladiator with the kids last night. Went over well. That movie is gnarly as hell. Absolutely love it.
Watched red notice. Not a good movie, I guess it was fun enough to get through, but man does Ryan Reynolds get on my nerves. Felt like 20% of his dialogue hit, the rest made me want to punch the tv.
Watched blazing saddles and laughed a ton. Probably why I don't have a voice today.
Watched The Hobbit again, that movie grows on me every time I watch it.

It’s a small and fairly predictable story but it still works on every level. Great performances and directing.

I have never seen an Hobbit movie, and I do not foresee a future in which that ever changes.

They are not as bad as some here make them out to be. Too long? Yes. Awful? No.

Watched the Last Duel. Admittedly, Damon, Driver and Affleck playing medieval characters was a little weird to me (I’m always a fan of Shakespearean British actors in those parts) but it was really good. Reminded me very heavily of Rashomon

never bothered to watch the third one. And the LOTR films are in my top 5 of alltime (I’m counting them as one movie)

John Carter is a fun if forgettable Disney action/adventure movie. It gets a lot of **** for being the biggest flop of all time but I thought is was mindless fun. Its biggest issues were budget, marketing, and dropping "of Mars" from the title. Oh and they could've easily cut 20 minutes. It's not great by any means, but it gets a lot of unjust hate due to the box office failure.

That movie single handed ruined Tim Riggins’ career as a leading actor.
Movie Thread
Yeah which is a shame because he was pretty good in it, even though he did basically play it as Tim Riggins from Mars.

John Carter was great. Very good cast. That would be terrific if they continued on the stories on D+

Quick question:
In the movie Sudden Death - why exactly was Jean-Claude forced to put on the Penguins uniform (i.e., what happened to the actual back-up goalie?
(I forgot and I am NOT going to watch it again... )
(Every year, during my first MBA classes of the semester, I teach a case based on Pittsburgh Penguins bankruptcy. It requires students to understand what kind of movies the Penguins owner Howard Baldwin was producing...)
Incidentally - enjoy:

If I remember correctly, he was looking for the explosives and fighting the goons. He makes a run for it to try to escape the goons, ends up in the Pens locker room where Tolliver (the Pens starter who was out with flu-like symptoms) was laid out on a table getting oxygen (alone, mind you). So, to hide from the goons with guns, he puts on all the goalie gear, then heads to the bench for some reason. And remember, this is the Civic Arena so he had to skate across the ice to get to the bench from the locker room. Then the coach sends him in because if he's healthy enough to be on the bench he's healthy enough to go in the game. Wregget was doing fine so I don't get it. Also there's a literal ticking clock happening and the arena is about to explode but JCVD is like **** it, I gotta make this save. Then he knocks a Hawks player the **** out with a punch so he gets a game misconduct and a $1,000 fine from the coach.
Again... if I remember correctly. I definitely didn't watch this movie over and over again growing up.

The save scene was so utterly absurd lol.

So the real Tolliver had no clue that JCVD went to play? He was just chilling in the locker room? Correct. He came out of the game with flu symptoms. He was getting treatment in the room but I'm pretty sure it was just him alone on a table, passed out, and getting oxygen. The trainers/doctor not being there is pretty unprofessional but that might explain why we've had such bad luck with injuries.Source of the post So the real Tolliver had no clue that JCVD went to play? It's better to not try to pick apart the amazing writing and plot of Sudden Death. It's oscar worthy writing and directing.

By the way, this conversation got me wanting a Tolliver jersey. Signed by Caufield. Not a bad price, either.
